Disconnecting battery...

Will disconnecting the battery mean the ECU will be resetted meaning I'll lose all the settings the ECU had stored?

Because I'm thinking of fitting in my pivot volt stabiliser but dunno if I should get one of those car memory savers to save my ECU settings?

if your radio is a anti-theft radio then you may need a radio code, or you will be locked out, but if it's not then nevermind this message.

Or take a 9v battery, and a battery hookup wire. Solder them into a cigarette lighter adapter, or onto alligator clips. Then, remove battery's negative terminal, attach your battery to the negative and positive, and disconnect the battery positive. It'll keep the radio code and clock correct.

the ECU doesn't have anything stored. the only thing that is stored is the clock (which us US fits is in the radio) and the radio anti-theft device. the radio itself has a backup battery so it can save all your radio stations n stuff. This is all on US fits im not sure about UK fits. Just make sure you have the radio code. As for the ECU, you should be fine b/c it doesn't store anything and if it did, it's not gonna make a difference if u disconnect the battery.
