Noisy Engine or More Than That

I went out to check my coil packs this morning and noticed my engine sounds noisier than ever. To be clear I haven't had a valve adjustment done yet so I'm not sure if the noise would go away from that or not.

It sounds like loud slapping or knocking to me. I hear the regular lower tone engine noise but this knocking really stands out. It's been this way for a while but sounds more pronounced now. Is it just the Fit motor or is it something more than that?

When clicking the link, be sure to scroll down a bit, the video is lower on the page.

It does sound like valves, but it could just as well be some loose heat shield or something.

After doing some research on youtube, I found about 10 videos with other Fit engines that sound exactly the same. Guess it's just the way it sounds.

One other person that had a similar noise had a bad AC compressor bearing.

It's the honda sound. A lot of engines do it. Hondas are known for it. Be thankful you do not rip a diesel Volkswagen lol. Now those are fucking loud.

If the valves aren't clicking you are likely to burn an exhaust valve.. The intake valves loosen up as you put miles on the car and the exhaust get tighter.. Adjusting them is a surprisingly easy thing to do and will improve power output, fuel mileage and peace of mind.

Yup this weekend after I adjusted my motorcycle valves from tight to proper, now it has clicking noise. And power. And idles properly.

If the exhaust valves don't shut firmly, then they don't contact the head, and they don't dissipate heat properly, and tulip and fail.

The loudest valve train noise I've heard was on a Harley Shovel Head with a high lift long duration cam and solid lifters.. The valve clearance was by feel.. You had it right when it was loose enough to spin the push rods but have no up and movement of them. If it wouldn't start when it was hot, the exhaust valves were too tight... It sounded like someone was hitting the inside of the cylinder heads with a ball peen hammer when it was idling.. The Fit has a loud valve train compared with most late model water cooled engines but is quiet compared to old push rod air cooled engines.. At least the valves on it are easy to adjust.

I noticed that the noise was it's loudest when you were by the air intake.. The intake manifold runners and plenum along with the HPS intake with trick filter are amplifying the sound of the intake valves opening and closing.. They sound a little loose and in need of adjustment but otherwise OK..

What else I noticed is that the engine seems to sound like this when it is on the colder side.

I recently took it on the highway for a while the other day and it sounded much quieter when I got back home, almost like that noise wasn't existent.
