RockAuto - Good Deal on Filters

I am a careful shopper. I'll spend hours on the web trying to find a good deal. All too often, it is the expensive shipping which changes a good deal into a bad one.

I just ordered four oil filters from RockAuto Parts Catalog
WIX 57356 Oil Filter 4 ea @$ 4.63 = $18.52

DORMAN 095015 (095-015) Oil Drain Plug Gasket 4 ea @ $ 0.41 = $1.64

ShippingPriority Mail $6.52

Order Total $ 26.68
This brings my delivered unit cost for a WIX 57356 filter and drain plug crush gasket to $6.67 each. Not bad.

-----------------

Finding an auto parts source that will ship smaller orders by Priority Mail is a worthwhile way of internet shopping.

I am a member over at saturnfans.com and many of the members over there also recommend USAFilterStore.com
From what I remember, their prices were less and their shipping was more but it may be worth looking at in the future.

I've joined the cult of Rock Auto recently after checking out this site. I'm going to buy a ton of stuff from there now instead of local places that are much higher.

Best stuff I found were air and cabin filters!

I had purposely avoided Rock Auto for many years. Once long ago, I used their online parts identifier to get a fuel pump for a car which had fuel injection. What they sent was for a much earlier model that had carburetion. Of course, it would not work. When I explained the problem, they did refund my money... but even a year later, they had not corrected the wrong part number identifier----even after I called again!

My latest purchase from them was different. I knew for certain what the correct Wix filter number was before ordering it from Rock Auto--- I did not rely on them to choose the right filter for my vehicle.

I'll repeat again, the BEST feature of Rock Auto (besides their good prices) is their willingness to ship smaller packages by USPS. Few of us enjoy buying something like an inexpensive gasket (which weighs next to nothing) and then having to pay $18 to have it shipped by UPS or FedEx.
