I have some feelings on this alarm topic and alarms in general. Alarms are something that I feel helps you sleep better at night, a sense of security knowing a so called alarm is protecting your investment.
Here's the thing, if someone wants your Fit...THEY WILL TAKE IT! Honda's are one of the easiest cars to break into and steal. You can talk about immobilizers and shock windows but when it comes down to theft...byebye. Doesn't take to much for four to five guys to jack up the rear and hitch it to a trailer while one disables your 300 dollar alarm. Best investment will be LOJACK....at least you will be able to track your car after the fact.
In ending you can spend alot on custom alarms and gadgets but we all pay for insurance (I hope), stock alarm.....good to go. We are all talking about a Honda Fit correct...NOT A FERRARI. They have big issues in LA with Honda's being stolen. People scope your ride for days and your activities....they wait until they are sure (nighttime) and within 30 to 40 seconds they were off wit yo ride! Kinda scary.

Yeah, I got this alarm as well, the $499 one. The sales woman said that the immobilizer on the stock security can be easily pulled out of the ignition and then the car can be started with a screwdriver. Supposedly the $499 security adds a second immobilizer farther in, or something? Anyway, I realized a day later there was no point because the car already had the basic alarm system ( I got a Sport model), which IMO is probably good enough. If someone's gunna steal the car, there isn't much you can do to stop them (as someone already said above).
Thing is, it's now been installed and I've paid for it and everything, had the car for a couple days. I guess I can't really "return" the security system, eh? I'm really wanting to see if I can actually have it removed and changed back to the stock alarm, and get refunded the $499 ... I don't really need that hardcore amount of security, not to mention it is annoying if the car alarm goes off accidentally and then pisses off everyone nearby with all the noise. Any opinions on whether it's feasible to have the $499 system removed and go back to stock? I mean going to the dealership and asking them - I've only had the car for three days.

Err, I could take pics if I had any clue where they added stuff. If you point me in the right direction I can probably grab some pics, I just have no clue where they would have installed the new components..
rang my honda lookers dealer in nottingham,
said it would cost me £350 for a honda alrm that would work with my central locking,
my insurance would be between £50 to £100 cheaper a year, o yes it getting cheaper every year !
im still waiting on doing my first mods, but any mods the insurance
company need to be informed,
so getting an alarm is my first priority
the alarm i wanna do it myself so that i can put some led into the rear tailgate on either side of the reg plate [ my cousin did it to his honda accord years back
cant wait !

Looking back, I shouldn't have bothered. The ONLY advantage I see is that people who are ****ing with my car will set off the alarm if they bump against the car (or if some fool breaks a window or that sort of thing), which will draw a lot of attention. ... not that it will help in this "fend for yourself" type of city.
