I'm going to be installing mine tomorrow.

One question, do you have to leave the battery disconected for 30 mins ( I guess to recycle the ECU) or can you just unhook the battery, install, rehook the battery and go?

thanks

Does ANY manufacturer put this in their vehicles at the factory? Why wouldn't they?

Let's just put it this way dood. You can call these Aftermarket, Hop-Up, Upgrades, etc.

I'm sure car manufactures don't put these parts on cars because they are not needed, keeps the cost down, etc.

Yes it only costs them a penny or nickle to make these things, but they will charge you 3-4x the cost. Anything from the dealer is ass expensive. Which I bet they don't make it because they can't compete with aftermarket costs.

Also, there are addons for the car from the dealership. cargo cover, floormats, mudflaps, etc. Why did they not include these?

Hell why did they not put rear disc brakes on our car????

But anyway, lets get back to the subject. I'm at work now and I don't think I'll be taking the car anywhere so I'm going to try to install it now.

I'm probably gonna make my own grounding kit. I just gotta get some measurements. If all goes well, and anyone wants any, you guys can PM me.

Anyway,, That fuse box next to the battery was cluttered with my rockford amp fuse, voltage box for the HID, and fuse box for the HIDs. The amp fuse holder was screwed onto the lid of the fuse box. I took the fuse box lid off and unbolted the holder off. I figured out it that I will double side tape it to the VS3.

So! I went and looked at the VS3. fiddled with it and took the thing apart. (Warrenty Voided) Drilled two holes on each side. Then tapped it with a hex head machine screw. Then tapped 2 holes on the fuse box lid. I put the VS3 back together and mounted it to the lid. Perfect! Even the rockford fuse holder sat low enough to clear the hood.

I shoulda taken pictures but I didn't have my camera with me. sorry guys!

If you guys want to get technical and detailed, I can take it off and take pics. But all I did was tapped two 4-40 size screw holes in the VS3 so I can bolt it down to the Fuse box lid.

Yeah I bitched about 30 minutes being long. I think it took me over an hour. I had customers coming in my store so time flew..

Started my car up and the throttle response is noticable. Now I just gotta go and drive it.. after I get off of work..hehe

So,

Did you have to unhook the battery for an hour, or is that just because of how long it took you to mount it?

I guess what I am trying to get at is do you have to reset the ECU?

thanks

I like to unhook my battery for a bit so the ECU can reset. I don't know how long it takes for the ECU itself to reset but I usually wait for 15 minutes or so. That way the ECU can learn the new aftermarket part installed. Engine wise.

I'm at work, ,I own my own hobby store. So I just went outside and hooked my car and worked on the VS3 in the shop. I had some customers come in and I got caught off gaurd which doesn't hurt to leave the car unpluged for a while.

but after it was hooked up and ready to go, I started the car up and I can tell the engine response is better when I rev up the engine. Not significant, but sure did make a difference.

So I went to make a deposit and man, I can feel a difference. Car seems a bit faster for some reason. It picks up pretty good. I bet with a grounding wire kit, it'll get up and go some more..

Here's the photos.. I'll zip tie the wires down later.. =)

Hey I finally post pictures and everyone quiets down..lol

Man,, I don't know if it's the VS3 that is in my head making the car go faster, or the car is just a bit more torquier.. This morning while going to work, I had to back off the pedal a bit a few times. I can feel my back pressing against the seat when I accelerate.

If this VS3 is really making that much of a difference, well I'll be darn cuz there was only 3 bigass capacitors in there and a LED indicator light.

Now I'm no electronic garu, but have a direct connection on the +/- on the battery, wouldn't that slowly drain the battery? Or does the capacitors cut the power when it's fully charged itself?

i think it wont because the alternator charges the battery, but i'm not 100 % sure!

I am going to put mine in when i get to florida and compare it on the trip back to the one we are taking down. Should be interesting to compare the two long drives.

well..the one i have is NRG's epac and in the instructions it says "if vehicle will be stored, disconnect the epac before storage." so i'm assuming it will drain it if it sits for a while. So far, i have gone a week w/o driving the fit and it still fired up after a week with my epac still hooked up.

The only thing that its powering is the LED, that drains so little energy it will take over a year to drain your battery. The VS3 basically holds a charge and keeps the charge to the battery constant and even.

PS: I have let my car sit for alittle over a week, and it started up like a champ when I came back.

I know the VS3's capacitors hold charge on it's own, but it's directly connected to the +/- terminal. But I guess it only holds so much before it stops charging on its own and cuts the connection between the 2 terminals.

LED lights don't drain much. I was aware of that. It'll take more than a year for the LED itself to drain a 12v lead acid battery.

Anyway,, I forgot to make a run to the bank today and I just came back from dropping my night deposit. When I got back, I noticed my driver's side headlight housing is glowing blue. hehehe.. I need to get another LED light under the other side. Ricer style!!!

I think after disconnecting my battery, and the ECU resetting itself, It just completely learned everything again. And this is why I think my car is faster. I might have to disconnect the VS3 one day and see what the difference is.

I'm working on a ground kit now. I gotta find some Blue wires.

Hey Jesse, you think that guy can make ignition booster?
