Weapon*R states that their headers are strong enough to support the exhaust system without the bracket. I kinda believe it but then why would they even include the hole for the bracket?

It's funny my header was only a fraction off so I swapped the position of the washer and the bracket and it fit. On Raton's car it was off about an inch. Maybe Weapon R should read these forums and make a better jig to hold the brackets in place or delete the hole.

Weapon R Street header

Installed it today, had no idea what i was doing but ended up figuring it out after 2 hours of knuckle busting i am pleased with the product!! This header is being run with stock exhaust and is nice and quiet. Now I dont feel as if I am on a suicide mission when getting on the interstate! Thanks weapon r for a great product!

I checked out the weapon site and they are charging $300 plus shipping for the street header. How did you get it for $190?

Got done installing my Weapon R Street header today.

The install was not "plug and play" but it's on there correctly and with no leaks.

First problem I had was that one of the top studs on the head unscrewed right along with the nut.

Second problem was that although I read several posts here on header installs and followed the advice, I still bent one of the two bolts on the stock manifold flange where it connects to the down pipe. It got bent so bad that I could not unscrew it.

Third problem, and I expected it because everyone else has had it, is that the hole on the header for the bracket going to the tranny was about 3/4" short and a bit high also.

The stud coming out of the head wasn't really that much of a problem. The nut was tight on the stud and when I installed the header, it just threaded back into the head.

The bent flange bolt was a bitch. I had to cut through it with an air driven die grinder and a cut off wheel. Took me about an hour because I didn't have much room to get a good angle on it and I didn't want to lose any fingers either.

The bracket problem was an easy fix. I used a large bench vise to flatten the bends on it and I also elongated the mounting holes a bit on each end. After those modifications, it fit perfectly.

Went for a drive right after installing it and noticed a significant improvement in how it pulls at low and mid rpm's.

Very happy with the Weapon R header, although the install could have been easier. In all fairness to Weapon R, the only issue with their product is the bracket being off.

In any case, drove up my favorite canyon tonight and had a blast yo

EZDuzit: Me and Arisenfury (well, mostly Arisenfury) installed the headers today. My bolt bent as well, it looks like the factory alignment isn't very good to begin with or something because it takes a decent amount of force to get the B-pipe to match up with the header. We got lucky, and the bolt actually broke off cleanly from the manifold, leaving an open hole for the new header. I can't re-use my old manifold anymore though, unless I find a way to extract the other half of the broken bolt. What I did was replace the old spring bolt with the one that came off the mounting bracket. Works okay, it seems.

Took about 3 hours... I definitely could not have done it without help because I am skinny and weak Everything seems to be okay right now, though. Keeping my fingers crossed! Thanks, Weapon*R and Arisenfury.

Eh I had fun, I think I could do it pretty fast from now on since I've figured out a lot of tricks to it. The only thing I can't figure out is how the bolt got bent... might save the hassle if someone holds the downpipe and the header inline while someone else is taking the bolt out.

Glad you got it on there OK.

Those stock spring bolts seem to have a *lot* of stress on them. I don't think there was anything I could have done to prevent bending them when I removed them.

My stock manifold is kinda munged also where I had to use the die grinder to cut through the bolt. I could still re-use it if I had to, but I would have to use a washer to replace the metal that got ground down. You should be able to remove the broken bolt without too much trouble if you have to reinstall yours for some reason.

Enjoy your Weapon-R!

are you all having trouble removing the stock bolts? we also spray some penetrating lube on the bolts before removal and it works fine. Also are you guys installing it from the top of the engine bay? That way is the fastest.

When I did mine back in the Fall we did about half from the top and half from the bottom. I had no trouble getting the spring bolts off the flange connecting to the downpipe, however I think my friend and I sprayed pb blaster on them.

With Coupdetat's we did a lot from the top down but he was removing the spring bolts from underneath w/o pb blaster and was having a rough time and eventually I think the downpipe pulled away from it and started making it come out at an angle and eventually snapped the bolt off.

put on my headers the other day, my car is only a month old, but my manifold side bolts were TIGHT. I used a 3ft long pipe that i viced onto a flat 3/4 ratchet and managed to get them all off.

otherwise the install was smooth and easy.

review: butt dyno says good, sound is deep and mellows out the exhaust, going uphill/onto the highway is, somehow, much easier.

I feel like going uphill in 5th gear is much easier after adding the Fujita SRI and Weapon*R headers. I used to bog the engine a bit if I tried to climb a hill in 5th at 35mph, but now it does everything without complaining. There's one huge hill in my town that I always have to downshift to 4th to get up at 40mph... next time I go up it I'll pay attention to how the engine is doing. The butt dyno says I'm much faster off the line now, too. In stock form, I feel like the engine was always going at 100% just to get itself out of 1st gear.

I'll be very interested to see if mileage goes up, too. I can get around using much less throttle now.
