Looks good guys!

Quick Q: How often should the air filter be changed on this DIY? Just replace every x miles like a normal drop in stock air filter?

The package that came with mine said there was a cleaning kit so you can clean, reoil and reuse. I'm hoping with this question that someone that has had theres on a while can tell us though.

Koi 05-18-2008 11:45 PM

Oh I see, so it's like a K&N filter then.

Sloto200 05-18-2008 11:49 PM

yea and like have the price too... I ran my first tank of gas in the car with this intake on it and it was all city driving, sometimes having fun, sometimes taking it easy and i got 30 mpg. My wife drove it several times as well and she doesnt drive a stick much so she is not to easy or smooth with it at all.

Hey, I did up one of my own intakes this past weekend. I got a little nervous with the IAT so I ended up unplugging. Now I have a CEL light. Will it definitely turn off on it's own? I called autozone to see if I could have them clear it for me, but they said their ODB scanners don't have software for '08 cars. Does that seem right? I'm thinking about just driving by tomorrow and asking them to at least try for me.

Sid 6.7 05-19-2008 12:39 AM

It'll clear on it's own. Don't worry.:)

dnguyen826 05-19-2008 09:50 AM

Ok cool. I put up pics of mine when I get home from work later today.

here's mine:

Its for a hyundai accent, got it off ebay for $40 shipped. I trimmed about 2 inches on the filter end. Car is a bit torquey now and I can tell if its running or not, havent done ILP yet.

Have another aem tube from an integra, thinking about doing the injen style cold air in the near future.

Sid 6.7 05-19-2008 11:01 PM

Awesome intake!

fung88 05-19-2008 11:12 PM

how do you guys clean the filter???

swaknets 05-19-2008 11:42 PM

Thanks! yours as well. Havent revved it up past 3k rpm yet(break in period sucks) so I dont know how sweet it sounds when having fun, it has a nice purr when accelerating though.

My filter is dryflow, so ill have to buy the aem cleaner, about $8.

If you have the ones that are oiled like K&N, youll have to buy the recharger kit about $10-$15.

fung88 05-19-2008 11:54 PM

i have a fujita intake! is that dry?

solbrothers 05-19-2008 11:59 PM

LMAO!! that hyundai intake is awesome!!!!!

swaknets 05-20-2008 12:13 AM

From Fujita website: "Cleaning the air filter is simple and can be done using soapy, lukewarm water, and let air dry. The Super Flow High Performance Air Filter™ contains a synthetic fiber that does not contain any oil". hope that helps fung.

LOL, I know right? thanks to this thread and hondafittuner injen intake tutorial, I knew it would fit with slight modification. :D

swaknets 05-20-2008 12:19 AM

I found another one on ebaY, eBay Motors: 2006 2007 HYUNDAI ACCENT COLD AIR INTAKE SYSTEM (item 170150931675 end time Jun-15-08 05:37:35 PDT)

Its $280!!!:hyper:

Did mine this past weekend:

http://filebox.vt.edu/users/rspeer/modified.jpg

It got up to 110 degrees yesterday. After driving home from work, I popped the hood, and put my hand on the end of the cone filter to find it pretty hot! I think today I'm going to buy another 90 degree bend and move the filter more out of the path of the radiator hot air.

Koi 05-20-2008 07:23 PM

I did mine today morning - is this intake supposed to be super loud? I start hearing it past 2000 rpm, and when it gets to 2500+ rpm I REALLY hear it. Sounds like the droning of a fart can exhaust except coming from the front of the car.

swaknets 05-20-2008 08:45 PM

Yeah, you should get another bend haruman if it really gets that hot. I strategically placed the filter to the very right side, moved the return radiator hose slightly lower and to the left(it gets hot). I think cooler=better mpg and more power.

Koi, I think the longer the pipe, the better the resonance, im not sure. It should also depend on the filter you use, K&N filters have a nice growl to it. The AEM I did^^ has a nice purr to it, didnt sound like a fart can, maybe when I start driving normally(break in period) it will sound a little meaner. I think I used spectre filter before as a sub as I clean and recharged my k&n and theres slight high pitch hiss than the k&n filter. Hows your mpg by the way, if you are concerned with mpg, you should opt for the injen cold air intake. As soon as I save some moolah, im goin to get one. Check the tutorial at hondafittuner.com.
