Question For All The Tuners

i have a 07 honda fit base modle automatic transmission which i purchased just to get me from place to place. realizing that it is still an automatic tranny i have noticed how the car tends to struggle severly on inclinded freeway on ramps and facing slight headwinds. but when i say severly i mean light headwinds and 2% to 3% grade inclines. i understand the engine is a 1.5 and underpowered. my question to you is what modifications do your recomend that will give me that extra boost without putting too deep of a restaint on my wallet and without ruining the excellent gas milage. also if you have any suggestions as of modifications i can do myself without needing aftermarket products that would great.

thanks again !!!

A good place to start would be a cold air intake, great for highways and run around 150-200$. These are usually good for about 5-6hp in the mid to upper RPM. Don't be fooled by other claims, some manufactures exaggerate these numbers quite a bit.

Somebody is selling a Fujita CAI on here for 120$, very good deal! Also an A-Spec one for 110$

I run the Fujita myself, it is a great fitting intake and reduces a lot of clutter in the engine bay. It has a washable reusable filter which is nice, no oiling like the K&N ones.

If that isn't enough extra juice you could look and getting some exhuast components (Header, B-Pipe & high flow muffler), these will typically run you considerably more.

Another option that is out recently is Crank Pulleys, the tend to help in start and stop conditions by reducing the weight on the crank and it can add up into a couple of horsepower points. They run around 150-250$

Finally if you need way more power you need to start putting out way more money. WeaponR has an intake manifold out that adds a nice gain, it requires a fuel computer or you can go the route of getting an engine management system. This requires tuning and big dollars for parts and install.

The last option is going Turbo or Supercharging, both of these are +3500$... but you can kiss your power problems goodbye (and regular fuel, premium only for these units!)
