Thats why they made vtec. The dsi has no top end and its not possible to change components to convert a dsi to vtec - its been thoughly investigated and confirmed by Hondas own engineers in Japan who designed the car. When the engine is the limitation it doesn't matter what you do with intakes and exhausts it can only do so much.

Kevin's article on the L-series motors is a great read.

Not sold in Australia or NZ but available in some markets. The 1.3L is sold as a 1.4L in some markets too.

Yeah, but how to make an i-DSi move faster than an ordinary i-DSi?

Ow, my engine specifications is L15A2 i-DSi. CBU from Japan.

That's what they were saying. There's not much you can do, because the engine itself isn't very good. Try getting a non DSi motor into your car, or see if you can turbo (I don't know if that's doable on the DSi). Or, if you have alot of time and money, have a qualified shop put a K20 from an Integra in there. Mugen did it, now that would be a fast car.

Give that man a prize. That's right they have given you the best engine possible.

Judging by the probs this guy is also having with his CVT they have given you the 5 speed auto also for a good reason. I don't mind changing my transmission fluid often but I'm sure most people in the US wouldn't be happy if they had to.

Ok as now you have open filter, go for under drive pulley, extractor, bored throttle body that will give you some good power and will improve your high end.

You could just get an adjustable power band.

I drove the i-DSI Jazz back home in Indonesia a month ago...

i've to say that it's a very good decision for Honda not to bring that engine to the states since we'll have trouble catching up in highway with the i-DSI...

however, i prefer i-DSI's fuel economy

You mean, port and polish?? come on.. i-DSi just 8 cylinders, it doesn't matter i think..

Just some minor change..open air filters, fuel catalyst, irridium sparkplugs.

I hv plan to get pivot volt stabilizer on my i-DSi. How about it?

i've done a mods to this engine.. here in indonesia Honda was selling the Jazz with 2 engine option, the 1.5L I-DSI, and 1.5L VTEC, mine is the 1.5L i-DSI 5 speed manual and i have it till now (9 years of use) the reason i chose the 1.5L i-DSI is because the fuel economy and driveability since the peak torque are at a very useable RPM.. so much torque at low rev.. it is good for city driving which i did everyday.. and when you did something to it, it still can deliver a very good considerate power.. and the party piece is that the fuel consumption is not change very much.. what i've done is ported and polishing the intake, increase a bit the Compression Ratio from, reaming the throttle body about 2 mm, change the exhaust pipe to the 2007 model (the headers is totally different, and the pipes are bigger, why i choose this rather than the custom one ? because it will fit nicely), HKS Hi-power muffler, KnN replacement air filter.. never done any dynotest, but i can catch up to my friends standard manual GD3 with vtec engine, considering the total money i spend to buy the car and done the mods are still cheaper than buying the vtec one, i'm quite satisfy by the performance it deliver, especially, the fuel economy doesn't change really that much after the mods.. i still have better fuel economy than my friends all standard 1.5L Vtec.. now i'm averaging 13km/L (7.69L/100km, 30.57mpg), but still all this this still isn't enough for catching the 1.5L i-VTEC GE... hahaha... it overpowers mine everywhere..
