Very cool!

(so how much $$$ do we have to sink into a Fit to come close to that?)

cool video and very cool and impressive fit and, driver iv always loved that fit but that video is very is strange for a massive company like kraftwerks/skunk2 to put out. i mean what so impressive about an amazing race car with 70 grand invested into it, passing up an old, slow, stock looking BM. lets see the fit up against some more race ready cars. give it a challenge!!!!!

Puttin around? Did you hear the sound of that V8? Having owned a 72 Big Block Chevelle in High School and C5 Corvette a few years ago, that guy was on it. Almost sounded like Nascar at Infineon Raceway. Also just to point out: "taking them like a champ" and "driver sucked" is a contradiction in itself. Why can't you take the video for what it is? It just shows the tuning potential of the Fit. No doubt the M5 is a marvelous machine. And just because a Fit gets around it at the track doesn't make the M5 a "shitbox". Just take it easy. No reason to get all wound up about it.

uh, so you just totally contradicted yourself? since when is a civic NOT an 'el cheapo' commuter car? the only civic that is 'nicer' than the fit is the current gen. the fit is as nice as the 7th gen civic and nicer than any civic before that.

stop proving people right. it makes you look like a retard.

ha! someone doesn't know their germans.

most euro guys like the stock look, its called a sleeper. they don't want the WIZZ-BANG in your face anime look of a lot of japanese cars.

and those bimmers are not that old, and they are NOT slow.

haha...we always have to have people hatin'...that's what makes life interesting for those that doubt....come out to the track and check it out...we can race...we'll even buy you a beer afterwards regardless of who wins or loses.

Couple things to notice...the Fit was peddling off the gas turning up the hill going through 'Budweiser' because it was carrying more momentum going into the corner...this was indicating the car was handling better.

Also...i didnt see brake lights when the Fit dive bombed the M5...judging how the M5 was turning in on the Fit, I doubt the M5 knew the Fit was going up the inside, let alone letting him by.

We did punch the motor out 1mm, but other than that the Fit didn't cost that much to make go fast....Pro-C shocks, S2 Megapower exhaust, and KW supercharger kit. There is more money in those nice by heavy 18" wheels and street tires (BFG KDs) plus the paint stereo and crap (which we had to put in for the TV show). This car would probably be even faster on 16"s or 17"s.

Well damn, I'm hooked! Wish my job's (hint: my avatar) income could support my quickly developing speed addiction.

so about 5k for the motor, another 5k for the custom supercharger setup, 1k for the pro-c's and another 650-700 for the exhaust.

I am also sure there is a ton of custom fab like eh... the wide body kit and probably a header and a bunch of braces. The wheels are slowing you down I agree but they are also wider and probably have some really decent tires on there.

The reality is that we are comparing a stock 2000-2003 M5 that is probably worth about 15-20k now to a car that probably has about 40K in it including all the custom work done, all the hours you guys spent building it and so on.

I can appreciate that it's a fairly fast little car but it would take a lot of money for a normal customer to reproduce this.

how do YOU know its stock?

and i believe they are worth a bit more than that.

and 40k is your own estimate.

2471 lbs. vs. 4023 lbs.
200 hp vs. 350 hp

the M5 still has a slight advantage in power to weight. but the Fit might be able to carry the speed better through the corners despite the M5's RWD exit speed advantage.
