I'm new to this forum. But not new to modding cars. I own a 390awhp Eclipse GSX. Also, I don't own a fit just yet. But, how much power can the Fit's motor handle before the head lifts? To double the HP safely You need ARP head studs, bigger injectors, fuel pump & a Damn good Tune. Also, How much power can the rest of the car handle? Tranny, clutch, axles?

I think I am close to 180 HP now with the KraftWerks high boost kit header and semi custom exhaust on an internally stock engine... Except for needing to either doing the Window Weld trick or getting after market motor and transmission mounts and burning up front tires, everything is alright so far.. O to 60 runs in 6 seconds is no problem when I am able to control wheel spin but I don't have sticky tires.... DiamondStarMonsters will soon be going after the big numbers with some real big turbo boost.

to get 200hp you will need a new motor. K series FTW!

You don't NEED the K series to make 200+ whp but it will need some custom engine parts to get to that with the L15

Those arent for our car....they are for the "1.5 16V I-tec" motors

What motor is that from?

I could not find an I-tec anywhere.

Honda L engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
there is no "i-tec". its just a typo on that website

As much of this thread testifies to, the only way to get mad power from the L15, is boost. And until Hondata or someone cracks the ECU, the engine will simply adjust itself to any mods to allow for better MPG...not power. But yes, there are a few off companies that make internals for the L15....if you got the money

I'm not competent enough to trust myself not to totally make a mess of things by tuning with a FI/C controller if the tune requires a fuel to the A/FR ... Having the Hondata reflash and adding water/methanol injection will have me going lean to tune so if there is a mistake that results in a return to tune on the ECU I should be alright... That doesn't mean that I feel any better about my lack of competence.. Hell, I can't even get the remote on the TV to do what I want it to.

a good tune on a dyno is not that much. plenty of people here will send you their fic map if you ask...it will get 70% of the way there...or at least to the dyno....

My car runs great as it is but I did pick up an AEM FI/C when I was considering a self tune then KWSC released the high boost so I jumped on that... As it is I have a safe base tune with the reflash so any tuning I will need to do will be to get the most I can from a water/methanol kit I haven't installed yet... Years of taking all kinds of prescribed medication has taken a toll on my mind and body and the VA has has me running back and forth to medical appointments for test and procedures so frequently I can't have my car down long enough to get things done.... It is a mean nasty bitch when your devil may care youth catches up with you, all of your old compadres and partners in crime are dead or a dying and your so damned mean and ornery that anyone else that could lend a hand is related to someone whose ass you at one time stomped on or (and) stole their woman from. I guess I should have stopped that kind of stuff before I moved to an area where people are all related in some way or other.

Too bad Has Port doesn't make mounts for the I-tec.

Nitro-meth is the only way to go for 200 hp.

I want to build a "Neat" Methanol or an E98 fed L15A. Anyone got the budget and the need for speed?

Let's make a low 7 second quarter mile 1.5L FWD.

Any takers?

Working on a couple other Fit projects at the moment too. One for a guy overseas looking to run a nitrous shot on a built & boosted Fit, and another with a group actively working on something that will benefit all GE owners with some cash burning a whole in their pocket.

i love the flame better than the actual advice on this thread... after all, i'm thinking of a B18 EG will fit the bills more nicely than a k20 fit?. i'm not so sure bout handling tho, but as somebody here have elaborately explain: 'you don't need a good handling for a dd'...

speaking of handling, @DSM: seems like i'm sticking with this L15 for awhile. k20 is pricey, and turbo doesn't suit my taste well... right now i've decided that the motor will be left alone for a while, and i'm going on a diet package. spare tyre is out, sound deadening is 2nd on the list, followed by rear reinforcement and engine damper, 4th are racing seats and retirement of my rear seats. Hopefully it can give me better response after all that
