S = Sports mode.
Maintenance = just regularly change CVT fluid. Every 20,000KM works best for me. Only use Genuine Honda CVT fluid or expect problems.

The difference between D-mode and S-mode is basically just a difference in engine rpm, the engine running several hundred rpms higher for the same throttle position. So for the same throttle pressure, engine rpm in S-mode will be higher and thus pickup better and the final cruising speed higher.

Do not use ATF-Z1 in the CVT unless it is not possible to get Honda CVT fluid. Honda CVT fluid is sold as multimatic fluid in some markets including Japan.

The manual says if you use ATF-Z1 in an emergency to change it as soon as possible with proper CVT fluid.

It has been found that for smooth operation of the CVT the fluid needs to be replaced more often that the 40,000km/or every 2 years interval in the manual. The performance of my CVT shortly degraded after 20,000km and was better than ever after the fluid change.
