auto belt tensioner clicking?
I have been hearing this loud clicking sound usually when I start my car after it sits over night. Looking around i finally found the culprit of the clicking, I circled it in red.
If im not mistaken isn't this the auto belt tensioner that came with the SC Kit? Why would this be making such a loud clicking noise and what do I need to do to stop it?

Was this actually a clicking/metallic sound, not the kind of squeal the belt can make?
I'm currently having the same issue if so - metallic clicking sound from a cold start, but with the addition of the smell of something burning until the car is warmed up, at which point they both go away.
Did you find a solution?

I'm going to have my mechanic check on the belt & tensioner as soon as I can. The belt's been on for less than 15,000 miles - could it really be that worn already?
Is there a specific process to testing if the tensioner is working properly or not? Thanks.
Edit: I just read your thread about the clicking noise & regarding the belt being worn down and stretched out. Do you think the tensioner having problems caused that prior to it completely seizing up and snapping the new belt? I'm definitely worried about the possibility now that this seems to be a likely culprit for my current problems.

IT can get worn down pretty fast, mine was on for less then 15,000 miles. I realy hope that I dont have to be changing it out ever 15,000 miles though. Unfortunately I dont know how to test the tentioner, maybe Kraftwerks wold have a idea on how to.

Alright got my mechanic to take a look. He says everything looks fine for the most part - belt looks okay for now, tensioner is working fine. We just ended up tightening the alternator pulley a bit more in case the belt was slipping - I guess I'll have to see how things turn out in time.
The only thing that looked wrong was the idle pulley next to the tensioner is covered with grease or oil or something. There's a thick amount of black greasy gunk stuck to it - do you have the same issue?
EDIT: I mean the high speed belt control bearings, NOT THE PULLEY. My mistake.

Gentlemen,
You need to make sure your belt drives are properly tensioned. The black "gunk" is belt dust from rubbing the tensioner underside. You have not properly tensioned your belt drive systems.
You must adjust your belt to proper tension so that the tensioner is not laying on its bottom stop (clicking noise) and the belt is not contacting the tensioner (belt dusting).

Sorry guys, I got the names of the parts mixed up so OJRKraftWerks might have given an answer to a question that wasn't asked correctly.
I meant to say the high speed belt control bearings, not the idle pulley / tensioner pulley, in regards to the black gunk. It seems likely that OJR replied regarding the tensioner's pulley due to my mixup, not regarding the bearings. I'll update this thread once I get a new answer back regarding the high speed control bearings, not a pulley.
