gonna try something differant!

so iv been thinking alot about turbocharging my 08 fit m/t sport, just dumped alot of cash into the header/mid pipe so instead of buying a turbo kit i wanna build my own, i wanna do a rear mounted set up, t28 internally gated at 6psi, parts im thinking ill need are such:

scavenge pump
t28 turbo
lines/fittings ect ect
honda 310cc injectors
custom intercooler piping of course (side mount off a gti or stock turbo car)

im gonna have the turbo set up bolt on just like a axle back would, the only problem i see is the tuning, im gonna run a wide band and all the gauges that are a must, step colder plugs, but im thinking of getting just a vafc for playing with air and fuel

only doubtful things that are in my mind is if it rain and the water hitting turbo that is 1500' and rocks ect ect

only other option for fuel would be a FMU witch is 100% garbage but im kinda lost on the tuning part

1. you do not need an intercooler. the travel tiem of the compressed air in the charge piping form teh turbo to the throttle body will have plenty of tiem to cool, especially with all the air circulating around it.

2. your intake....design it well. or else the first time you take your car out in the rain, say goodbye to your turbo as it sucks in all that water. rain and road debris is a issue.

3. dont use the vafc for tuning. tuen it properly. get a aem fic.

but if you decide to change your mind and do a regular turbo setup, ill sell you mine. your kinda local, save on shipping and ill even give you a great price on the install. the only things that youll loose out of your header/exhaust is the header. just resell it.

dang haha are you seriously thinking about doing this or are you just thinking about it, because there's a big difference.

on top of the risks you already know, think about when you park the car outside. it's just gonna be screaming for attention, both while rolling and stationary. if it doesn't get jacked while the car's parked anywhere, it's probably gonna get you pulled over like, instantly. well, i don't know NJ laws but that wouldn't fly in california haha.

STS has had success with rear mounts for years...the key for me would be to have the charge piping small as to get the boost to the cylinder as quickly as possible. But going with a t28 is too big for a rear mount your dyno graph would look flat until 6k rpms then it would spike... IMHO not street-able at all. ... and reread nighthawks 1, 2, and 3 pointers.....true, true, and true....

...go on you tube and search for SCION TC rear mount....can be done on small displacement...remember grasshopper the world was once flat...prove the haters wrong!
