The only problem is most owners want something they can take to the track and then still drive to work with no issues, only problem I have had is clutch went bad just after two years, which was manufacture defect, but I daily drove mine everywhere, even out of state a few times. With proper wiring and kpro I have been able to pass state emissions and its 100% legal, even have a sticker on my door sill from state dmv inspector to prove it legit. I will be making around 500-550 on 93 pump gas and very reliable and streetable soon. I agree it is nice to have a one off car, but I prefer to enjoy my car in evey aspect available.
