Cleaning EGR Valve Passages

Cleaning EGR Valve Passages
Hey guys. On another thread I was mentioning cleaning the EGR valve to remove hesitation. It seems the other models (Accord for example) are better setup to clean the EGR passages. However the Fit does no have a good way of cleaning. It seems the port goes through the head. Am I correct that the only way of cleaning the EGR passages is to remove the head? I think I'd rather sell the car if I need to remove the head.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Maybe your problem isn't the EGR valve. You say you have hesitation, and hesitation is usually a symptom of coil packs going bad, or you need valve adjustment.
You can clean the EGR valve itself, and see if it makes a difference, going all the way as to cleaning the ports themselves is a pretty big job.

Thanks guys for the help. I'm not ruling out ignition problems but I've had a lot predictable issues with the EGR. My EGR was clogged at around 80k miles. I also accidentally shot coolant into the passage a while back. With my last battle I was getting serious bucking when going uphill... I opened the hood and wiggled the connector for the EGR and was better. So I've had some bad history with the EGR. I believe the EGR is working but I suspect the passages may be blocked from the coolant mishap.
I am getting a better understanding of how everything is working. The typical configuration for a honda has an access panel so the ports can be cleaned. I believe the fit has access too but nobody has discussed it yet. Tomorrow I will take a look at this access panel. I believe it is for the EGR passages...

Cleaning 2008 Honda Fit EGR Passages:
I accidentally said Facebook instead of YouTube but you get the idea. I just realized how terrible the quality is on that video. I'm not sure what happened. It looked great before but now it looks bad.

Well my hesitation is still there. Thanks everyone for your recommendations. As I said in the video, I'll be replacing the coil packs next.
I think the project to clean the passages was a success though. We should rule out easy and free possibilities before spending big money. This project was easy and free! Also I learned something which was not on youtube or this forum. Can't beat that.
When I get the coil packs I'll let everyone know.

Both situations may cause the hesitation. If the EGR is clogged (stuck closed), it will cause hesitation when the car is accelerating or going uphill(under a load). If it's not accelerating, it may cause hesitation if the EGR is stuck open. It all depends on what the engine is expecting and not getting.

Look forward to hearing the outcome of the coil pack renewal.
I have a very similar problem, mine seems worse when the engine is warm. Are you going to replace the 8 coil packs?

Eight might be overdoing it since there are only four cylinders.
