Why do they drill the front bumper skin????

Here in Indiana we are not required to have front plates. Our neighbors to the west, Illinois, aren't as lucky they have to wear fornt plates.

That sould mean a beautiful virgin front bumper skin with no holes. But my local dealer mounts a front license plate on every car they get in stock. ARRGGGHHHH!

I wonder if they would cooperate when I specify that they not drill the bumper skin for the front license mount?

i got lucky and didnt do the screw that's goes in front part. they were smart to just drill on the underside so it's not damaged. now i used some L brackets to give it the jdm look instead. Didnt want my wife to get hassled by the man while driving.

call your dealer asap and tell them not to install a front license plate. I wouldn't think it would be a problem, since they would probably like having to do less work.

We made sure to specify that they were not to touch the car, no dealer add on's and No Front Plate. And then the week it was suposed to arive we called once again and made sure they didnt add any of that shit.

I was ready for them to have already done it when we went and picked it up, ready to make them order a brand new front bumper have it painted SSM and give it to us, for me to install. But i was happly suprized it was in the back seat and not installed. They still put on a stupid sticker on the back above the Fit logo which i pealed off right in front of the salesmen, and unscrewed the Dealer tag surround and plastic tag.

Just go back down there and make sure its on every piece of paper work for them not to touch it.

The realy stupid part is the front tag holder stays on perfectly fine with just the 2 bottom bolts, theres no reason for the 3rd one that goes threw the bumper cover. And even worse, Oklahoma doesnt have front tags, never has. And every car on the lot has front tag holder, just because they can put there shitty dealer tags in there.

I freaked out when I thought about the dealer drilling in to my front bumper as well. I called them up to ask them what they do to prepare the vehicle before they deliver it to the owner and they said they will not drill the front bumper unless I ask them to do it. Also, for $1300 the dealership puts pinstriping and door/fender molding on all of their vehicles (or at least the Fit). They dropped the price to $500, but they refused to not put the pinstriping on even if I paid them the $500.

Sh*ts weak!

They're ripping you off by charging $500 for pinstripes. When I worked for a Honda dealer we had a guy show up twice a week and he pinstriped all of our new delivers for about $35 each. When I worked for a Nissan and Suzuki dealership we had one of our detail guys do it as part of their regular prep work. If they won't let you delete the pinstripes for free then you should go to another dealer. $500 is an obscene amount of markup on $10 worth of materials and half an hour or less of time.

I know that $500 for pinstriping is a rip off, but I wanted a NBP MT Fit and they were the only dealership in my area that had one coming in within 60 days. Besides, all of the other dealerships wouldn't even talk to me without trying to sell me a Civic Si. I f'ing hate sales people. Anyways, nothing is set in stone yet.

My Fit, purchased in Michigan (no front plates) for use in Ohio (yes front plates) had the front plate holder installed when I picked it up, but the upper screws that hold the plate into the holder don't penetrate the back of the holder or touch the bumper. I haven't examined it closely, but the mounting bracket seems to be attached at its bottom, just below the bumper. As they were prepping my fresh-off-the-truck car, I did ask them not to put on a dealer sticker, and they complied.

Honda has sent out a bulletin for the Fit and the Civic for the third screw to go from underneath the bumper and not through the front.
