repairing oem bumper

Unhappy repairing oem bumper

i just hot something on the freeway on it cracked my front bumper.can they be bondo'ed or should i just find a used one to relace it?i am trying to go the inexpensive route since i had no plans in buying a body kit for the car.SO SAD...

If it cracked, and depending on how bad it is it possible to fix it. It just depends on how skilled you are.

Post up some pictures of it so the rest of FF be able to give some advices

i just saw a commercial here in vegas for a company called bumper medic and all the do is plastic bumper repair.i will give them a shot.i dont have a cam right now so i cant post pix.thanks for the reply!

NO Bondo

Plastic bumpers can't be Bondo'ed. There is a plastic repair kit that a Body shop can use that will "weld" 2 pieces together.

There are various ways you can repair the bumper. But depending on the extent of the damage it is probably going to be ABS Plastic Welded or spliced with either a plate or fibreglass. Bondo/Filler alone will not suffice, filler is basically a hard, brittle but non-flexible plastic. For this reason its not suitable as a structural material, as any movement in the filler will crack the paint on top of it.

Plastic welding takes some time to master, whereas fibreglass is a lot more forgiving. If you're confident with this sort of work, I would personally try and repair it using fibreglass. This will reinforce the bumper from behind which you can then bondo on top before painting.

in my opinion just get a new one.. happen to my friend one and tried to plastic weld it but the flex was to much from the bouncy road and cracked it again... but then again he didn't have any support where it broke ??
