New guy looking for performance

Hey, just got my 2007 Fit Sport yesterday and am a fan so far. Already looking into what I can do to improve the performance, but haven't found a performance thread yet. What I'm looking for is what mods are out there, how much performance do you get, and what does it cost.

I'm looking at everything from a simple K&N air filter to a supercharger. Personally, I'd like to keep it street legal, and my state has the CARB standards, but any ideas are welcome. I'm also interested in pulleys and other weight-reducing measures, but want to know if they are worth the cash.

Please include price and HP gain (if applicable) and hopefully we can make a master list.

So far I found:

K&N filter - $41 - (not listed)
K&N Typhoon Air Intake - $233 - +5hp
Kraftwerks Supercharger - $2,995 - +25hp

performance based on horsepower? not gonna be impressed with the investment, for sure.. wheels, suspension, and brakes is where it's at:
skunk2 pro-c coilovers
DIY x-brace (made from L brackets and rsx c-pillar bars, lol)
progress rear sway bar
hawk hps brake pads
(^^my set-up before i parted out and sold the gd3^^)
any forged light weight wheels with decent street compound tires

..it'll feel like a whole different car. you won't be winning any drag races but it'll put a smile on your face at every turn

EDIT
i bought most of my parts used so i saved a TON of money

Thanks GD3_Wagoon. I know it's never going to be super-fast, and I want to keep the mpg's as high as possible while driving "with a smile on my face". (well said.)

I've been skimming some threads and it seems like light wheels is a common first step.

the most affordable and lightest weight wheel would be enkei rpf01.. pretty easy to scoop up a used set on craigslist and/or honda-tech around $800 with tires or $600 without tires

pretty good looking wheel, IMO
**WARNING**
rpf01's may be the gateway wheel toward becoming a wheel whore... just sayin' lol

no problem, glad i could help! for mpg/hp stuff i gutted my stock airbox and bought a hi-flow k&n filter ($30 at autozone). i can't say whether there was or wasn't an hp gain but throttle response was much nicer and i got 2-4mpg more per tank compared to stock. i also had a megan replica header that fit nicely and helped a lot with top end pull.. with just those two mods and my wheels i was getting between 38-42mpg combined -- pussy footing and about 80% of that distance being highway miles

Goto the gym and joIn a yoga class will reallly make a difference. Average guy can lose about 30 pounds in two months. Relatively affordable option too. I’m actually not joking. Next step is to take performance racing class. These two things alone will make you very dangerous.

glad u have a sense of humor. but honestly i respect any form of physical activity geared towards wellness. n yoga is no joke. i took a few classes in the middle of 6 year stint of practicing MMA as i felt i needed to balance out the aggressive training with something more fluid and peaceful. i was thinking it was going to be a walk in the park since girls n old folks did it...n i got my ass handed to me!

Yoga is a martial art against yourself. I always thought it was a joke, but that was out of ignorance. Yoga is like physical exercise, working out helps your whole life and yoga helps you working out. Force multiplier.
