Gauging interest in the Fit. Need opinions.

I am a 22 year old (Asian that has never owned a Honda) guy and I am thinking about buying a 2010 Fit very soon. I am currently a Helicopter Mechanic at Fort Rucker and I am working on the UH-60's (A/L models). My current daily is an 85 E30 (325e) that has been slammed, and the head gasket is giving way. I discovered this morning coolant on my oil filler cap and I decided that I have had enough of old nostalgic cars. I have owned an AE-86, Toyota pickup, S10, Mustang GT, 2 E30's, Celica, Sentra SER (boosted), Supra, S-13, Neon, and a Miata. I am ready for something new and that can be easily modded to be simple and clean. I also need something that the fiance can drive as well.

I am simply wanting to know how easy the Fit is to work on and how to make something that I want and that she can drive. I am really thinking about buying one this week since they are affordable and the MPG's are good.

you say never, but you've only been driving legally for 6yrs kiddo.

i think you'll like the Fit. it reminded me of my old 90 civic hb so if you're into nostalgic cars it might actually work.

my recommendation: get a MT.
