2008 fit
2008 fit
I am new to this so please stick with me I need some assistance.
2008 base model fit/automatic
141,000 miles
It started to stall when cold, only at start up and when you put in gear while on high idle.
Once in low idle it runs/works fine.
It did have a code P0685 "ECM/PCM power relay open" but it has cleared.
Plugs changed.
Valves have never have been adjusted but will be done next week/engine is not noisy however.
Are these to be set hot of cold?
Any ideas?
Thanks

Rough running Fit when cold
I recently purchased a used 2007 Fit Sport 5-speed manual with 165,000 miles. This is a US model which was imported into Canada a few years ago. I picked it up at a bargain price because it needed some work. I’ve replaced the front brakes and the spark plugs. The car started fine but ran rough and stalled regularly when cold. Swapping the ignition coils around made no difference and the idle was lumpy.
I was quite certain that the valves had never been adjusted so today, I took it upon myself to adjust the valves. The videos on Facebook were quite helpful. Only one of the 16 valves were at factory specs. Six of the eight exhaust valves were at .005 inches or less. I set the intake valves to .008 inches and the exhaust valves to .011 inches.
The difference was astounding. The engine fired right up and ran beautifully with no stalling whatsoever. The engine pulled strongly to redline and even chirped the tires going into second gear. No need to change the coil paks.
Cheers!
