Device to make sure car is locked
Device to make sure car is locked
Not sure if this is the correct forum, so let me know if it is not.
We have to use street parking and between the adults and kids driving someone keeps leaving the car unlocked at night (mostly me). Right now I am trying to remember to out and it the lock button on the remote, but is there some device that would let me know the car is locked?
I think we park close enough that it could work off of wifi.
I wasn't sure exactly what such a device would be called, but thought I would check if anyone knew.
Thanks

I have no ideas for your actual question, but will suggest that it doesn't take long to build a new habit, such as locking the car.
You might put sticky notes on the dash and just inside the door to your house to remind you. Or you could add something to your keyfob/keychain that you will feel when removing the keys (e.g., the poofy bit off the top of a stocking cap).
Basically you need to trigger an awareness that you're doing one action (exiting the car) which should lead to another action (locking the car).
Seatbelt use is a good example. When I was a kid my parents were constantly reminding us to buckle our seatbelts. Now, as an adult, I don't even think about or notice that I'm putting on my seatbelt - it just happens. Sometimes it's annoying, like when I get in the car to drive it up on the ramps to work underneath and realize that for that two foot movement I buckled the seatbelt. But, it's better than the alternative.
