Hey everyone!!! Great NEws!! I just installed a VTEC light on my M/T Fit Sport. I will take video footage of the engagement and disengagement points ASAP. It's cool!! And it looks nice! And now I can save more gas by keeping it out of VTEC on the highway! Sorry I'm starting a post without the pics, I was Freezing outside here in NY today temp is like 40 F!! Here's one that you can't see the Tachometer, but it is Wide open throttle after engaging the clutch nicely (rpms low start not a dump da clutch start)

Vtec Engages at 3400 RPMS only if you are accelerating pushing the gas like a feather weight! Otherwise at 2300 RPMS, On comes VTEC! Anywhere between 2300 and 3400 if you are off the throttle it will turn off, once you get back on it, it will come on again! I really gotta go to church!

I think I need a morning shot!!! So dark in the video!! but I'm very interested on it!!!

 

I made it with a 12v relay, and an Led bulb and socket, resister, and a wire tap, and lots of wiring.

I tapped into the VTEC solenoid B+ wire out of the PCM (Powertrain control module) Green wire with Yellow strip connector B.

I took apart the drivers' instrument cluster and other paneling, drilled a 1/4 " hole for the LED socket, and wired it up behind the dashboard tieing up the wires with Tie-wraps. Of course soldering all connections! (All for under $30)

IT's nice, there is also a slight audible click from the power relay when VTEC engages and the signal is sent to the light bulb.

More info on how the car operates tomorrow as I drive it some more and take nitice of things. As well as daytime pics and more videos! Stay posted!

Sure can, Actually I will probably be performing this on another Fellow Fit-freaker's ride on the board some time soon, I'll make a Do-it-yourself (DIY) thread.

The PCM can be found by the passenger foot. basically looking up inside the dash from underneith to the "right" of the glove box. I will take this pic and post it tomorrow.

previously others (on civic forums) just hard wire the LED to the same pin

Hard wiring is not a good idea b/c now you are powering the Vtec solenoid and your VTEC light off of the PCM's power..... if something goes wrong with the wiring (Custom ) behind the dash and it shorts to ground, we are frying the PCM with out the relay!

Using a relay we are supplying the LED bulb with it's own power source and using the PCM Vtec wire as a signal more than anything else!

Best to use a relay! It's only $3-5 bucks for a standard 12v Automotive relay.

Guess we can always slap one in my car too (along with the rear strut tower bar, "Home Depot Ram Air", and soon to be forced induction system from ???)

 

I did not disconnect the the car's harness wiring. I just mearly tapped into it with a squeeze tap and some 18 guage wire from that to the relay. So car's harness is in fairly no danger of becoming disabled.
