TO JCWL: Did you mount the light in the same spot as I've been doing for my fellow fit-freaks!?

No, I have an LX (no fog lights) so I'm going to mount mine in the blank filler where the fog light switch would otherwise go.

Currently I'm trying to get some VTEC labels printed up so I can do a professional job of it. They will be 3/4" round. White (clear) text on a black background.

Basically I'll countersink a 1/32" hole with a (3/4" flat bit) into the blank filler. Then I'll drill out a 5/8" hole in the middle. Into this I'll glue a short (~1/2") piece of 5/8" acrylic plastic tube, flush with the 3/4" countersunk hole. The LED will mount in the far end of this acrylic tube. The 3/4" VTEC sticky label will get stuck into this 3/4" countersunk hole.

This way the VTEC label will be evenly lit from behind.

Actually that little black rectangle by the mirrors is blank on the Sport model too! The fog light switch is on the headlight arm. and extra turn dial collar on the arm an inch in from the end. (hope that makes sense)

Will be interesting to see how it comes out! I mounted a dimmer switch there for the VTEC light for fellow fit-freak "WAVE" on the forum!

Wondering about this. 2V won't light a blue LED. Might it actually be 12V PWM?

gettinafit: Oh, cool. The self install fog light kit switch mounts there, but it's good to know that the blank is still available on the sport as well.

kps: Could be, I don't have a scope at home. I'll try and investigate some more this weekend.

After thinking about it I just figured out what it is.

When I measured the voltage I was measuring between GRND and the dimmer line, which at that time I thought dimmed 12VDC down.

But actually the dimmer line dims GRND up.

So really it dims between (12VDC minus ~2VDC) ~10VDC and (12VDC minus ~7VDC) ~5VDC.

Which makes a lot more sense, as my blue LEDs are indeed 3.4V.

Good catch 'tho - I feel silly for not noticing it.

You should do that man!!

I used crusie control when I was driving back to home, I found out the VTEC Engages all the time while using crusie control. I think it would be nice the VTEC not Engages on the road trip while using the crusie control............but...........sigh.

If you set the cruise under 3400 RPMS then it has the possibility of turning off here and there! But granted that is probably 65 mph!

prob do it after the winter, don't want to get stuck in the cold...it's pretty helpful to know when exactly the vtec engage...very nice mod "gettinafit"!!

It's really tough to keep the VTEC from engaging but if you can do it, I tried for a tank of gas, you can squeeze some pretty damn good gas mileage out of the automatic Fit.

Keep in mind in everyday driving situations(highway on ramps, maintaining speed going uphill) there is no avoiding VTEC engagement.

387 miles for me until the gas light came on, I kept the mph mostly locked at 65mph on cruise control with a few 80mph passing moves.

I can probably break 400 miles per tank if I lock it in at 60mph.

I'm happy the new guage is helping save $ and Gas! The only thing is that I have a lead foot around town! Especailly with the 5 speed I'm holding it in gears longer for accel! Next time I take a road trip in the FIT I will report my Gas mileage! Although I don't think I can break my old record of 41.6mpg! on the way to Chicago!

Great Idea, GettiNaFit !!!! I've tried to keep the Fit running in the low RPM range for better gas mileage but I never actually can do it for a whole tank. I was wondering how do you take the Dash apart to get the LED in the instrument panel. Can you describe or show a pic. Thanks
