Thumbs up

Cool Idea, You could use a mercury switch and then it would turn off when you close the door. Might try that today Since I'll be working on the Fit.

It's ONLY on when the key is in the Accessory or ON position.

It's on when the car is on. When the key is out of the ignition, the light is not on.

Good idea Toy Yoda. I would be interested in this if it could be turned on and off at will. If anyone does this, please do a write-up. Thanks.

you could probably just put in a switch in line and have control anytime you need.

yes, do you want to do that??? I think is is good to have a light in the glove box, but always on that may have problem. So, that why I want to add a switch on it!!! Seem like we are going to do another DIY!!!

Great idea Toda!

The first time I had to get something out of the glove at night, I absolutely hated the fact that it didn't have a light in there. I think I actually have a spare CCFL somewhere at home. Maybe I should go and hook it up like you did.

As for a switch, I can't imagine it would be very difficult. You can get CCFL for computer cases very easily, and they're already setup to run 12V DC. So just run a wire from a power source, like for instance, Toy Yoda did with a empty fuse slot, then add any automotive grade switch in-line before attatching to the transformer for the CCFL. Hook up the switch somewhere within easy reach inside the glove box, and it's done!

For a cleaner setup, buy a computer power connector so you can easily connect/disconnect the CCFL in the future. Or just cut off an unused one from your computer's power supply. Most CCFL tubes for computer cases already come the other side of the connector for plug-and-play install.

If someone really wanted to, I'm sure they can go to electronic stores, or heck, even a junk yard, and pull out ANY glove box pressure switch so that the light will only be on when the glovebox is open.

But wow, CCFL in the glovebox! That would be/IS super bright! I love it Toy Yoda!

I have a idea that you don't really have to drill a hole on the dashboard!!!

I'm thinking adding a switch in the glove box. I don't know how to explain what kind of switch that I want to use...........that's look like some of the car with the light on the door (When the door open the lights on/when the door close the lights off). It looks like a spring switch, the spring down the light off, then the sprin release the light will on.
