Does anyone know a rough idea of how to get aftermarket neon lights to be hooked up to the dome light (via the fuse box) so that whenever the door opens the neons would light up the footwells and switch off when I close the door?

A step-by-step guide would be nice.

 

I do know how. It tooks some figuring out, but really isn't that bad. I'm working on a guide. Should have it up after Christmas sometime.

 

Just hook up the lights to a power source that is always hot then run the ground wire to the switch in the door post and splice into the black wire going into the door open switch as it's a GROUND not a power source... presto light on when you open the door and off when you close the door.

Well.. I got lazy that's what happened. I just plain enjoyed the lights I wasted so many hours to get working.
