Yellow or Blue Fog Lights

Yellow or Blue Fog Lights

like some people i drive with my fog lights on at night sorry to to guys that hate that but i love the way it looks at night, so i was reading through the JDM yellow foglights thread and reading everyone about the lamin-X and the stained glass spray and seeing people's fits after they installed it

i'm not a big fan of the two color lighting of the yellow and HID blue. does anyone here feel the same way??
what i want to do is install some HID bulbs for my headlights and foglights with a blue bulb but
1) will drivers in front of me will think my lights are blinding?
2) what type/level of bulb should i use for the foglights and and headlights to ensure they don't blind anyone infront of me
3) if i do install them, will there be burning/melting of the stock lenses for the fog and headlight?

check your state laws too. some states do not allow colors other than
white/yellow in the front. would suck to spend the money and later
get a fix-it ticket.

i personally like having the Hid w/yellow fog look, as it is really really hard to have the exact color in ur fogs as u do in the headlights. so instead of having two shades of whites i just went and got the yello lamin-x from xpel. what i really like about the film is that, it doubles as extra protection from rocks/debris to damage the foglight.

With HID fogs, i would think people would feel somewhat blinded, as foglights' beam pattern isnt that defined.

hmmm, maybe i should just go with yellow and white

oh yeh, does low beams mean the lights when you drive??

low beams are the lights that you have when you first turn your headlights on.

me personally i have yellow film and yellow bulbs for my fogs but im goin with 8k bi xenon hids for the headlights and 3k hids for fogs when i save up enough. i like the 2 different looks. thats my opinion on it though.

8K FTW !!!!!!!

I have 8k headlight on my Fit for awhile now and I love them, but if you are in for look then 8k are great, but if you for something to offer better lighting and visible lighting while driving i would recommend the 6k b/c they offer the best lighting output and are not as blinding as the 8k are. will make driver think you blinding them, it really depend on the driver, if you are blinding them, then they flash you and hate your gut b/c you better light then them....hahaha
It really depend on you and what you want, the 8k offer great light and also the 8k reflex every reflector on the street and HWY so it look like the road is lite up....which cool to see and seeing other driver reaction.... but for ur fog light i would recommend going 3k on and throw on some vinyl over them and that would look sexy. And to answer your last question will they melt no, why you ask, b/c HID run much cooler then are stock bulb, just put ur hand over fog light and feel them. HID run at lower watt(35watt) while the Stock run higher (55 watt), which produce more heat....hope this anwser ur questions when ever you get ur HID follow my DIY on HID

here how 8k w/ stock w/ golden vinyl over the fog.

it all depends on how you angle your lights. your fogs shouldnt be aimed high because its for the fog!

hids without projectors same thing, its all about how high you angle your lights upward. i mean i have been head on with several cops(at least 5) and they have not done anything yet.

i love the look of the yellow. right now im running yellow lamin-x but i think im going to order a set of 2300k hids for my fogs. im running 5000k on the headlights and it is WHITE.

dont go with the blue fogs, especially on a black car...yellow gives it the extra look.


and besides its only a fix it ticket. i personally sacrifice the ten bucks to be able to see better. after driving with hids you will never go back to stock head lights.

i had this setup (10000k HID headlights with PIAA ion yellow fogs) and i loved it. I just got bored and put back the stock foglight bulbs and its even more boring. Im getting 8000k's for both headlight&fogs very soon, crazy colored lighting in your car can get pretty boring after some time imo.
and i dont mean by that im going back to halogens anytime

after thinking it over and over as i lay in bed night after night i think i'm just going to put the laminx film on and if anything get yellow bulbs or even getting the 3K like you said azncarbos

as for the headlights now i'm deciding on either i'm going for looks as well as lighting and the 6K's seem like the right choice because i hate it when people with bright a** drive by me

fits_all, u said that u had a 10000 bulbs, are they more blue or white?? heres the scale from the PIAA website and they call it "Plasma Blue"

DESIGN FEATURES

Kelvin: Color temperature is a unit of measure for the color of light – it is not necessarily related to the heat of the light source. A higher color temperature represents a color closer to actual sunlight.

oh yeh, i forgot this might sound noobish but when you put in the new bulbs, the aim of the headlights don't change as long as its just the bulb your taking out, right? cus for the foglights they said not to unscrew some screw too much or the spring comes off and that f-ups the aim

in hid kits the lower the number, in example 5000k is brighter than a higher one like 10000k. 6000k is a good choice, white with some color tint(may vary from blue to purple depending on the maker) which will not be like an issue for cops. Also, HID bulbs do get more color as the time goes by. Dont misunderstand me, i see a hell of a difference with my 10000k bulbs, its just that i want to be stock-ish look alike now having the advantages of the hid kits, hence the fact im goin with a lighter colored 8000k kit.

trust me..you can buy as many different halogen bulbs of different recognized names such as PIAA, but u will never be pleased like with an hid kit. Keep this in mind if buying an hid kit, dont abuse it toomuch since u got a halogen reflector, so dont get a 5000k kit. Dont get too crazy either buying a high kelvin temperature since u can get to suffer what im going thru. AND, get a bixenon kit, which bulb has a metal shield around it.

in case i didnt answered it well.. 5000k is the whitest, while 10000k is more color, as well as 12000k 15000k and 30000k that are around which may be illegal sometimes. The only different case is in 3500k bulbs, which tend to have that yellow color look like many of us in here have, the PIAA's ion yellow bulbs 3500k

actually 4300k is the brightest. but its really hard to find, so rock some 5000k like me. ITS CRYSTAL WHITE. im telling you, its really hard to tell the difference between 4300k and 5000k.

and if you can score yourself some 2300k fog lights your set.

it looks sooo nice

where did you get your kit?, what brand?\

I'm having a hard time finding a bi xenon kit that is just plug and play, being:
1 unplug stock bulb,
2 take that plug and plug into ballast,
3 take ballast plug and plug into new hid bulb....

most of the kits i see have all this extra stuff, and want you to run power and grounds, from the battery.....
whats the deal?

also, i see that the bixenons have a shield around them, does this all fit behind the (not sure what to call it) ..blocker thing that hides the actual bulb,...in the center of the headlight....you know what im talking about.... is there enough room for the bulb to fit and for the shield to turn?

Try Xenith Xenons Kit.......those cable are for safely reason forthe ballast, oem wires, and your battery itself, if you go w/ kit that has hi beam of halogen and lo beam is HID then that even more complex and more wires, bi-xenon is much more simply then other kits.....are you talking about the rubber thing.... you have to cut a lil to make it fit...... check out my DIY.....it can answer most of question.........

i contacted xenith xenons, and they responded with in an hour....thats service....
they told me that if i just wanted simple plug and play to go with the hid low with the halogen high beams, so ill probably do that

That kit is not simply plug and play....trust me.... i have installed few of those before...to me the bi-xenon are much more easy, and plus if you going HID, go all the way w/ bi-xenon..... that my 2 cent

yeah man..hear what the man has to say. Go with bi xenons, and xenith xenons seems to be pretty good brand.

my company was XLS-xenon light source. Seems they went out of business, just as xenith xenons explains on their thread what happens to some companies. At least mine are good quality and havent had to ask for warranty.(yet)

editing: sorry. they didnt went out of business. they just changed their website name. here it is just in case XLS Performance

hey guys, i am in the process of wanting to change my stock fog light bulbs to yellow. i want to use PIAA yellow bulbs and also a XPEL yellow film so it has that "JDM" look at daytime. my question is. how hard is it to replace the fog light bulb to yellow? is there a DIY instruction to do this? i am just scared that i might damage the bulbs. any help and input would be realy great. thanks guys.
