Dash lights adjustable independent of headlight status

does anyone know if it's possible to re-wire things so the dash lights are always adjustable? seems like it might be just a matter of a relay connecting the headlights to the dash lighting that could be disconnected and grounded or something. I'm always having to lay a jacket over the stereo display while at the drive-in theatre. does anyone think this sounds like it could work? i might be willing to experiment...

the dashlight brightness controller, like many other controls on our Fit, is built into the gauge Control Module. So it's not as easy to by-pass.

If you really want to fix this, take the radio out, find the red wire on the top left of the 17-pin connector, and put a pot switch inline. Probably don't need to hard mount the switch, just have enough lead wire so the switch sits in the glovebox.

I'd probably just bring a piece of tape and precut piece of paper/cardboard/whatever when I'm going to the drive-in.
