HID kit install questions

OK, i just installed a bixenon HID kit into the headlights and i had a few questions.

1) On the bixenon bulb, there is a shield on it and is that shield supposed to be on the bottom of the bulb or on the top when installed? Mine is at the bottom cuz when i installed it with it on top, the metal clip would not lock so i have no other way other than putting the shield on the bottom. The guy i bought the bulbs from said it should be on top, that is why i ask.

2) the rubber thing to enclose the bulbs, is it necessary? I didn't put it back on, but w/o it on, would condensation occur within the headlights?, is that what its for, to protect water from getting inside? I heard some people had to cut a little bit of it off in order for it to fit.

Its not dark yet so i will wait and see if the light output is good, just worried about the shield on the bulb might block some light or diverge it somewhere else.

Thanks in advance.

I dont remember how we put on the shield, but as far the the "rubber thing"... lol... we just cut it to fit, just to be safe. just cut once from the inside of the hole so you can adjust it... thats all thats needed... one cut... haha i dont know how else to explain it but yeah... haha

lolz at the description of that rubber thing....but thanks for the reply.

I went for a test drive with the HID kit and yeah it lights up everything well. I gotta lower the alignment cuz its aimed pretty high, which i purposely did with the halogens.

The only problem i noticed was that when i flip the high beam on, my fog lights would turn off until i let go and go back to low beams. I think i know why. I have HID's for my fogs also. The positive wire from the relay from the HID kit for the fogs and the positive wire from the relay from the headlight HID kit (the +ve wire whcih goes directly to the battery) are both touching each other on the battery. I think this is causing the fogs to turn off when the high beams are activated. What should i do about this? any suggestions? Maybe put a washer between the 2 positive wires so that they are not touching each other? Or put one +ve wire somewhere else on the battery, cuz there is 1 other location i can attach it to.

Any suggestions, sorry for the long post.

It does that even with the standard halogens. If you don't want that to happen, to the independent fog light set up. There's a diy thread somewhere

oh really? i rarely need to use the high beams so i guess i never noticed that before with the halogens.

I had bookmarked the thread to do the independent fogs a while back, planning to do that soon anyway.

Thanks
