headlight housing

what material is the headlight housing made of? glass? plastic? metal?

i know that the lense is plastic, curious about the base part where the bulb goes into.

im looking into the new osram 85/80 h4 bulbs that put out more light than 90/100 h4 bulbs.

Even if the reflector / housing doesn't melt.. your wiring may melt. Its best to stick with stock wattage.... just my suggestion.

you can get some wiring adapters for higher wattage bulbs on ebay.

Is it correct to say the 60/55 watt, consumes 115 watts with the high beam on? so 85/80 is ok, as low as you don't turn on your high beams???

no that is not correct, there are 2 fillaments in the bulb, and each of them burn only one at a time. so either you are burning 55w or 60w ... not at the same time

You can also make your own wiring harness to use the OEM connectors to trigger power directly from the battery.
