the lense is lexan, most debris is just going to bounce right off of it. And your right, if you 3m it you are going to cause more harm then good (ie. fogging, over heating the lense, etc.)

The lenses are coated at the factory (I have seen this done, but not with Honda) with a clearcoat...but still yellow with time. The use of plastic for this is criminal, as glass does not fade.... There was a either a recall or judgement in a lawsuit in the US against Peugeot on the Peugeot 405 for the lights fogging back in the 1990s. Everyone just got a new set of lights to replace the fogged ones, most of these outlasted the life of the cars.

Just buy xpel or stonegard (optically clear plasticy sheeting) for the headlights and foglights.

Much better to have a professional install the 3M laminate protection.

Go for the thinner stuff for the headlights.

The installer that did mine had a helluva time getting the film on the headlights. The Headlights are very ball-like in shape, so the film has to be stretched quite a bit to fit properly.

After watching him do it, there is no way I'd try that one myself.

I'd definitely be able to do the foglights myself, that one looked much easier. I had the thick stuff put on the foglights to protect against rocks and stuff.
