Installed this Infinity Basslink to my Fit Sport. It sounds great. No bass junkie here, but I have to say I may not replace stock head unit afterall. I could use some tweeters on the rear doors, though.

Nice write up with pictures. Much better than the Honda Sub option.

The Infinity BassLink (200Watts/ 10"sub) is a good choice for any small car that needs to:
-Keep on a budget
-Add some deeper bass to a stock stereo system
-Combine the Subwoofer with a built in amp
-Be easy to install yourself or not have to be too costly.
-Can be found at Circuit City or over the internet.
-Conserve space in a small car.
-Has controls to fine tune your sound:

How are you going to gain access to the spare tire? Would it be possible to fit it under the back seat?

 

Won't fit under the back seat if you use utility mode.

 

The subwoofer weighs less than 10 pounds. I can still access the spare tire, just a little bit of a pain. The sub will not fit under the rear seat, it's a little too big, not to mention you lose the Magic Seat functionality...

 

Is the fat red wire routed to the postive terminal in the engine bay?

 

Yes, the red wire goes direct to the battery.

 

I tell you what. Im to damn greedy to not have a job(im a student). I want it. Ive been reading all about it. Im getting a multimedia center, and an infinity amp and infinity ef components and coaxials installed all at christmass. And now i want that too! Crud.

 

You might also want to try to aim the sub in different direction (to the rear, upwards). Sometimes it provides for a better sound. Clean setup though, I like the simplicity of it!

 

Just thought I'd follow up on the performance of my 6 month old Basslink. Or I should say "lack of performance." I recently noticed that my Basslink has become weak and almost inaudible. Upon further research, I've found that this is a common defect on these units. I'll be returning my Basslink to Infinity for an exchange. Hopefully the next one will last longer than the 6 months this one lived for.

 

The failure of your sub is interesting (meaning that I'm sorry to hear it but curious---). What was the reason for the failure- did the driver wear out or did the amp quit working?

 

Sorry to be OT, but I would like know how much better it sounds than my setup with the Kenwood KSC-SW1. Has anyone heard both of them in a Fit?

 

I suspect it's an amp issue. It just didn't quit, like you'd expect. It just started "losing power" over time. By the time I realized there was a problem I'd have to have the radio cranked past 30 to even hear it at all... I did sound nice when I first installed it. The amp is probably to that great.

As for the KSC-SW1- A friend on mine had one of these in a Nissan Titan. The Infinity blew it away.

Let's see how long the replacement will last. If I can't get more than 6 months performance out of it, I may just squash the idea and go with something else.
