Thumbs up Armrest, questions, answers, comparisions photos

Having no patience for the fact that Honda thinks us Canadians don't want an armrest - ordered one from a Honda UK dealer and installed it today.

Picture below (top is EDM/JDM version and bottom is from stock Canadian Fit). The cup holders are a bit different for the EDM/JDM version, see the final installation pics to see the differences. Sorry about the # of pics.

Taking the stock unit was actually quite easy, less than 15 minutes. Four screws/plugs and a few swaps and it was done. Notice the nice coffee stain on the passenger seat from day one of ownership - need to clean that up!

Below is the new cup holder (removable) at the front.

At the back, you get two slide out cup holders.

The glove box of the armrest is not huge.

The top of the armrest does slide out but don't really think I will use this function.

Below is the space available with the cup holders retracted.

Back view with cup holders extracted (below).

Overall First Impression: Being a JDM armrest, the quality is spectacular and matches the interior. I can't understand why Honda Canada or Honda USA would think that Fit owners would not want to buy this option. Those vendors who can bring this into Canada and US will sell a ton of these IMO!

looks nice! - how big is glovebox?

Thanks for the writeup and cool pics! Is the glovebox wide/deep enough to hold cd's?

Nice pics...

So how much did it cost for the whole center console and armrest?

Are the cupholder holes the same size as the originals? I know JDM or overseas tend to have smaller cups/soda cans so they make their holders smaller...

I am confused. Are the front cup holders separate from the center console with armrest?

It looks like you kept the Canadian front cup holders but swapped out the rest?

Yes, I'd like to know how much it cost you to order and from which dealership did you order this from?

Did you order by part number or did you simply describe the part?

Thanks.

This message was too short.

Nice, I wonder if that's the same one sold in Mexico. How much did it cost you total?

The Canadian/US front cup holders are molded into the center floor console. The JDM center floor console has a removable cup holder piece, allowing for greater flexibility of the 'utility tray'. When installed, the removable cup holder piece also has two hooks that can be used to hang a small trash bag:

This arm rest unit is a MUST HAVE in my book...cup holders galore!

I WISH! I don't even have a Fit...yet. I'm just another Fitfreak. You're better off asking FitSport2007_5spd. If he can get it in Canada, I'm sure you can get one delivered to CA.

CD Storage

The depth and length of the glove box is just enough for a CD. The width of the box probably holds 8-10 CDs using a regular jewel case. Almost seems they designed it with CDs in mind.

Excellent! That means easy access lot's o'tunes when burned on MP3 cd's! I think that would be easier to use instead of the acessory jack.....

Cost and Size of Cup Holders

The cost to buy from the dealer in the UK was about 150 pound sterling ($315 CAN, $280 US) which most definitely is not the cheapest way to get this product. I did say I was impatient.

I would not recommend anyone to purchase it through the UK. Vendors need to step up to the plate and either bring it in from Mexico (if it fits) or Japan directly.

The cup holders are slightly smaller but unless you are using a monster mug, should be fine.

The unit is all one piece, I did not swap the cup holders from one to the other.
