I put my garage door opener in there. I left the clip on and secured it to the top of the pocket (there are openings in the top) and it is out of sight, and I can hit it real easily. Since the opener is attached to the top, there is still room for my wallet for long drives.

I save old mouse pads, cut them to fit (black side up) in the slot by the emergency brake lever, under the mirror controls, inside center counsel, glove box, ect. using double sided tape to hold in place. Keeps things from sliding and gives some sound proofing. I also put my wallet in the area you are talking about.

Could you give me links or a name perhaps? That's the first I've heard of such things.
