sound system power source

I just installed new components, an amp and a sub. I don't have any dimming in my lights as expected, but I know the stock battery won't hold up long. I tried looking for an Optima battery, but according to their website, they don't make one for the Fit. Right now, the stock battery is the only power source, all I wanted to do was upgrade the battery. Can anyone reccomend a battery that would work? Should I change out the battery to begin with? Any other ideas? Thanks Fitfreakers

Unles you run your sound system alot with the car off there' no need to change or upgrade your battery. Your sound system isn't run ff the battery at all It should be run entirely off your alternator. If your lights aren't dimming then your never dipping down into the battery and your alternator is keeping up to the demand.

Also for the record. Optima yellow tops have a pretty high ESR so it's technically more load on your alternator to charge it up.

You only need to change or add batteries if you listen to your sound system with the car off.

probably makes a commision on selling "exstras" I really dislike shops like that. They seem to beleive you always need a bigger battery and a capacitor(150-200% profit on caps).

Optima batteries have their place. It also depends on how much power you're going to be sucking from the car's system. You don't want the alternator to have to be recharging the battery all the time. In most cases, you won't have a problem unless you're installing a fairly large amp.

Injundon basically hit the nail on the head. lol
