Keyless Entry / Stereo Suggestions

Have an 07 base Fit and would like to add a keyless entry/alarm system. Can I get some recommendations on a decent system, there are so many options out there I can't decide on one. I would like to DIY install.

What do you guys recommend for hooking up the Ipod to the base stereo? One of those adapters or an aftermarket unit? I am fine with the sound of the factory radio but really miss having the Ipod hook up. Don't need anything crazy and I see Crutchfield offers 1/2 price installation kits when you order a unit from them....any recommendations from them?

Thanks again this forum has been amazing with ideas for my new Fit!

For iPod integration I believe PAC makes a unit compatible with the Fits stock head unit.

For an alarm system with keyless entry on the base I beleive you will ahve to buy an aftermarket power door lock kit. (usually $60 extra installed per door at most places) as for an alarm, truth be told any reputable brand name is great (DEI, Viper, Scoche, Compustar, Polar start etc.) It's the quality of the instalaltion that makes the difference, not the parts.

the base models come with power locks and it's a standard negative trigger for the door locks, so it shouldn't be extra (varies by installer), so any standard alarm should do the trick if you're just looking for keyless entry. As far as iPod intergration several companies make kits similar to the Honda Music Link that lets you control it through the radio, Blitzsafe and USASPEC are two that i'm looking in to.

Thanks once again for the replies, I could have sworn I saw somewhere on the forums the keyless entry is pretty much "plug and go" once you get into the dash but I could be wrong since I can't seem to find the thread now.

The Honda keyless entry kit is plug and go. So are interface units that plug into the CD changer port in the back of the stock HU (base and sport). I've done both. I helped another fitfreaker install the USASPEC ipod interface. Worked and sounded great. We were able to get it plugged in without pulling the HU. You can reach up through the glovebox opening (I had to remove the box both times), through a small hole in the dash support and access the back of the HU with just enough left hand grip/fingers to move the plug into the port.

USA SPEC Honda iPodŽ Interface Connects your iPod to select 2003-up Honda/Acura factory radios at Crutchfield.com

Is this the Ipod unit you used? Is there an install sheet for it around here?

i like that one more than the BlitzSafe one because it has an extra input so if I want I can plug in my XM radio through the AUX instead of using the FM. the cheapest place I've seen it for was here USA Spec PA11-HON2y ** Enfig Car Stereo ** iPod XM and Sirius Satellite Radio & Auxiliary AUX Audio input specialists

I helped Charlie97L install his, you'll have to ask him how he likes it. It sounded great after I helped him put it in but I don't own one.
