hmmm..i did something like this in my old ride. all i needed was a metal saw (hacksaw?), an aftermarket shiftknob (i chose momo automatico) and DIYed it.

my former car's shifter is even more complex with and O/D button. my fit doesnt have one since i own a 7 speed cvt.

not sure about the fit's but it should be basically the same. once the shifter is removed, there should be a metal outer tube and a metal pole in the middle(for the shifter button). measure how much the aftermarket shifter will take up then cut to desired length. the metal pole in the middle usually sits higher than the tube. you'll see how high it sits once you remove the stock shifter...

anyways, this was the final product (in my former car)..."short look shifter" lol

stock looked like this...ewwww..

far pic of the stock shifter..

i think we've already established the fact that it's not a short shifter, just something that looks better
unless people really want to shift from P to D faster

I don't know how anyone would get this mixed up with a short shifter for MT, considering the context of the words. Short. Shifter. A shifter that is short. Lulz.

Yert another example of some one hatting just because we mod a AT, it instantly makes use inferior to you MT guys. In the context its pretty obvious the mean the shifter itself is shorter.

yes MNfit is right.
(i plan on getting MT but i have friends with AT cool cars haha)
like i stated above, of course it's not actually going to shorten the throw, that would be ridiculous.

lmfao a short shifter is for a shorter shift time between gears. YOU are looking for a sunken thread knob which takes down more of the shifter.

And WTF I am hating on autos? I have a benz and TL that are autos. I am just trying to help you out with your facts. I guess claymore was banned for the same thing. People cannot handle the truth.

Its the way you deliver "the truth", and your version of "the truth" my differ from others.

The way you worded your post it came off as you think all of use are a bunch of ignorant fools that dont know the diffrents between a shifter that is shorter and a shifter that has shorter shifts. In the context of THIS thread when they say a shorter shifter they mean a sifter that is physically shorter then the current one.

on one of my previous cars that had a SAT lever (Semi-AT) used one of those
RAZO knobs that you can adjust height and set it at the lowest height. it comes
with 3 or so preset heights. it's quite cool.

the primary purpose of the shorter shifter on the SAT was to minimize mis-shifts
when driving over rough roads. it makes the shifter that much harder to enter
the + or - gate so you wont accidentally bump the shifter from your car going
over a bump.

but i thought the Fit's AT was just a D or MANUAL mode or something and you
just change gears on the butterfly-ish shifter?

I just went on the MOMO website. It's momousa.com and there is a lot of nice shift knobs that im sure will work for our AT fits. Im guessing we would just have the take the factory one off..cut it a bit shorter and throw a new one on there. When i use to be an a rx8 forum there was a fellow member that did that with his AT rx8. The cutting parts seems a bit hard but everyone usually points to the 'ol hacksaw routine.
