Installed Sport Pedals & Floor Mats 2009 Fit Sport
Installed Sport Pedals & Floor Mats 2009 Fit Sport
I ordered the Fit Sport Pedals, A/T Shift Knob and Carpet floor mats for my 2009 Fit Sport (TW).
Couple days ago I replaced the shift knob. Could not be much easier. Pop the button cover out, insert key in hole, push on key and pull shifter to the middle. Remove plastic cover with small screwdriver. Two screws and the old one is off -- put new knob on and reinstall screws and snap on the plastic cover to the back of the knob and replace the button. All done.
The pedals were fairly simple. You will need a pop rivit tool to do the job. Very cheap to buy at Harbor Freight. I've had mine for years and this may be the second or third time I've used it. The gas pedal is a cover that goes on over the center portion of the stock pedal. There are 3 holes to drill and I used my Dremel to drill them. Select the right drill size by matching drill bit to hole in the reinforcement plate provided. I just placed the cover on the pedal, drilled the holes and placed the reinforcement piece in the appropriate hole, inserted the poprivets to be sure they would both hit the holes and used the tool to spread the rivit and all done with fuel pedal. The brake pedal is even easier. Remove the original pedal, install the new rubber pedal and place stainless cover over the pedal. The holes are already in the steel pedal. Insert rivit and use tool. All done. Vacuum up the carpet.
The only tricky part of the mat install is cutting the carpet. If you get a light in there you will see two molded slits in the rubber part of the carpet. Cut the slits with a utility knife and then cut just the rubber part out to the carpet, approximately 1/2". Remove that little piece. Measure back from the carpet edge about 1.2 inches (1 1/4 on your measure will be good). Cut a slit about 3/4" and stick the mat holder in pushing distal end toward the hole in the rubber mat. Line it up, check that it is going to be the right length and push the two parts together. Repeat on the other side, vacuum and put your floor mat in there and lock it in. All Done.
Easy mods that should be standard on a Fit Sport anyway. The blue lacing on the shift knob match the dots in the sport seat. Looks great.
