Cost of adding alarm and power locks?
I'm not very mechanical. I saw that I could buy the alarm and power lock kit for the standard for about $220 or so. I dont have the skills/tools to do the upgrade myself. A friend said it would probably cost a total of $500 for parts and labor. Does that sound right? Maybe it would be better to go with the sport version instead?Great site. I learned more here than at the dealer/honda site.
A basic alarm with keyless should run you no more than $200 installed (aftermarket). I'm debating the sport vs base deal myself. I don't think I want the ground effects, but I do want cruise. I don't own an I pod yet, and even if I do, most likely I'll go with an aftermarket headunit anyhow. The body part that I would miss is the spoiler. The back end looks a little goofy without it, and aftermarket ones are around $300.
Decisions, decisions!

First, I was thinking about getting the base model, than add what ever I need.
At the end, I ended up purchased the 5 Sp Sport Fit instead. Save me time and Money.
Not worth to go through all these troubles finding parts etc.
Wish you luck

Fit (Base) Remote controls for keychain are about $108 online. Instructions don't look that tough. I am doing it this weekend. The security system is another $120? I think but I don't need an alarm on a base fit.

I agree, alarms are useless. I had an alarm on my 2005 Civic, and the fob died in 10 months. It was a nice night for the neighbors when I couldn't turn it off
I just had an aftermarket one installed for about $200. Works excellent. Keyless, shock sensors, panic, etc. Much better than the one Honda offers. On the base model if you go w/the Honda security system you will still have a remote, not the one on the key either and then it only sounds when doors are opened, not when windows are smashed etc. For the money, I just felt I got more for less going aftermarket.
