Changed head unit. Went well!!

For all of you out there sitting on the fence whether to change factory head unit out, jump! It's worth it! Went with crutchfield and their over the phone customer service is superb! Metra dash kit actually fits and looks pretty good. I was aprehensive after reading dash kit reviews but was able to make slight improvement that doesn't have any flexing at all. Put in the Alpine head unit with the built in bluetooth and it sounds way better than stock. And by stock I mean i had already changed out all 4 door speakers and added amp/ sub via line out converter. The difference in "brightness" in sound is night and day. I put the microphone for the bluetooth in the top left corner of the dash kit. Works great! Go for it!!!

I changed out the head unit in my GMC truck seven years ago - what a royal PITA. I had to take the entire dash apart... Hopefully, Honda made it easier!

Every Honda I've ever Done (Prelude, 4 Integras, 2 Civics) have all been easy and pretty straight forward. When adding in the iPod adapter to our ridgeline, I didn't even have to take the radio out... could reach it from the glove box. The Radios i've replaced have taken about 30 minutes (not including soldering the wire harness and running amp wires etc... for subs and components). This included the dash removal, center console removal, kit install, Dash & Center console replacement. I think with the FIT, there is no need for the center console removal like in previous gen Civic/integras...

I had to do an Olds Ciera... what a PITA... the harness didn't exist... had to solder wires INSIDE the dash... UGH. IMO, Hondas have always been easy.
