Question Reception

Hi:
Is there anyone in Westchester,Ny who's noticed limited radio reception?
I only get 1 station in clear.
Please tell me it isn't just me which would really be my luck anyway(lol)
Thanks,
LBW

Where are you located? I'm in lower Westchester and have no trouble with the radio reception. In fact, I had a hard time finding a "clear" FM station for my Sirius sportster to tune into until someone figures out how to get the AUX input working in a base Fit. Maybe your roof antenna is loose?

Other threads have mentioned trying the 16" antena from the Toyota Matrix.

I've had much, much better reception than any car I've owned - especially the ones with the in the glass antennas. (antennae?)

Smile Reception

Hi MizMamie:
I too, am in lower Westchester and I only get 104.3 in clear out of the others that I normally listen to (ie: 92.3, 95.9....). Kinda confussed, I've had plenty of cars and never came across this.
Think I'm gonna try the Matrix antenea idea, Honda hasn't hear of any issues with reception to date. Or just might get satellite radio (great excuse right(lol)
Thanks all- let me know if you hear anything

One thing I heard from a local aftermarket dealer/installer is that just about everybody is disappointed with AM fringe reception in most all new car radios! He had no ideas on any brand radio, OEM or aftermarket that has a really good AM section and most add-on antennas, boosters and such are mostly junk for solving this problem...

The Fit radio on my Sport is much better than other radios I have had in much more expensive cars (but it is not perfect in getting some AM stations in my area.)

Obviously, your Fit likes only classic rock. Sorry I can't be of any more help, but I hope you find a solution soon.

Mine seems to get worse reception than my '95 nissan 240sx (factory power antenna) and the '95 accord we had previously. Kinda annoying, but listen to the ipod most of the time anyway.

It almost sounds like the antenna isn't hooked up to the back of the radio.

I have a fit sport for a month. I get bad reception on npr local station (fm)-I have always gotten this station without problems-in any car I have driven. I have taken the car to 2 service depts and called honda customer service-I was told this radio reception compairs to other like cars-acceptable. I have asked to be called when a fit sport comes in so that I can hear the radio and compair to mine. I can not believe that in a brand new car I can not listen to fm local station without static.

I've had my Sport Fit for just over 1 week now, and I haven't noticed any problems with the reception. I can pick up a station in Fargo which is nearly 90 miles away from me here. My last car ('00 Civic Si) would only pick up the same station during the summer, in the winter I got a different station on the same freq out of Winnipeg (~130 miles away).

All of this is now pointless to me, as my favorite station just changed their format and all I can get is classic rock or country now. XM radio, here I come, hehe.

Anyways, sounds like the antenna may not be connected. I can/does happen.

Good luck!

I am still trying to figure out the radio problem in my fit sport-I have had it for a month and 1/2. Love everything about it-but the radio problem. I have taken it in to 2 different service dept and both said it is the same as other fits on the lot-so no problem. There is a crackle that comes and goes and sometimes a severe static (no relation to stop or start). FM stations I have always gotten on any car have this problem-am stations seem to all have it. I feel like I am getting the run around and I wanted more from honda. Anyone with stock radio with this coming and going crackle noise/static-any resolution? (besides buying a new radio or giant speakers)

thanks

Remove the external antenna; if the problem is not worse, then there is probably something wrong with the antenna connection or wiring. If it is worse, then it's just that the tiny antenna isn't very good; try the Toyota or some other longer one.

I have to agree the AM range is weak at best. I had a g35 sport coupe, I'm a phils fan and I loved to listen to the games when I would end up driving 250 miles into upstate ny from jersey to see my mom. I could get the game well over 200 miles into my drive. Now I loose the am feed at about 100 miles into the drive or so...crappy.
