I am a newb at this but fairly confident that with guidance I can get this done. I have the PIAA Sport Horns I want to install in my 2012 Sport. I already cut off the factory connector to the stock horn in front of the radiatorthinking it's a simple splice and connect. Wish I hadn't! Also was it difficlut to access the security horn? Any schematics, diagrams, etc. is greatly appreciated!

Hi Tony,
The important parts you need to do your horn install are:
- wire (16 gauge or thicker)
- two 12v automotive relays (with blade connections)
- 14 female blade crimp connectors
- blade fuse holder (with 25amp fuse)

additional parts are:
- plastic split or spiral loom (or just spiral wrap your wires with elect tape)
- metal bracket to mount your horns to your car

Important Tips: Try to mount your horns high up in the engine compartment away from heat sources so they don't melt nor get wet when driving in the rain. And also point horn opening angled downward so water doesn't get trapped in the trumpets but instead can easily empty out.

And regarding the location of the alarm horn. It's located in the engine compartment just behind the left headlight. You can see it easily but when you go to splice the horn wire there it's a bit tricky since you can only fit one hand and arm in that little tight space.

Thank you Sacman. I'm gathering materials. I may need to pick your brain again later regarding my relay connections. Thank you!

Hey Sacman! Sorry to bug. I just failed my state inspection because I couldn't get the horn to work. Do you have a diagram where I just use the oem horn wire and leave the security horn alone? My splice connection doesnt seem to work. from my earlier message, I want to use PIAA 400/500 horns powered by the battery. I dont think there's enough current from the horn swith to drive 2 PIAA horns. Please advise, thank you so much!

Tony

Here you go:

"Switch" is your horn button

Your energizing the relay with:
86 goes to OEM horn wire
85 goes to ground

Your powering the horns with
30 goes to (+) battery. Run a 20A fuse in-line.
87 goes to both horns, wire them together.
Wire horns to ground.

No problem! And yes, 16 gauge wire should be plenty for the PIAA horns. Some air horns need as high as 12 gauge because they pull like 18A, but I don't think the PIAAs are anywhere near that intense. They pull enough to not be able to use the stock wiring effectively though like you found out.

Good luck!
