MDF spacers, preferably covered in bedliner material

Since I'm on my second set of MDF spacers, is the bedliner for weather proofness or something else?

Yes the bedliner should help with the water. I've done it with bedliner as well as fiberglass resin and used other materials that are weather resistant.

Thanks a bunch. I was deployed when my car was flooded from rain.

If you read stuff from a while back some people experienced rain that would pool up into the back seats of the GD's when you left them parked in a rainstorm with the hood facing higher ground.

Almost a year later when I came back from Japan I discovered my mdf spacers had swollen and were no longer holding the speakers tight any longer.

I probably won't take out my current speakers just for the sealant application but if I upgrade or discover another problem it'll happen in the future.

If you need them I can make a set of the ones that I made, using some material that is impervious to moisture. They are the ones in the picture above. They are expensive but I can cut them to any size with a perfect circle cutter.
