It is high density fiberboard. I used a 3/16 thick piece that was 2x4 feet. Cost $6-$9 at hardware stores

Does fiber board warp over time? Did you reinforce the cross-span?
I used foam board and it warps like mad. It's $25 down the drain.

It does bow a little but i just flip it every month or so or whenever i noticed or remember. I still use mine and if i made it again i might buy steel to reinforce it but its not a problem and i likely wont need to remake me for many years.

I have a coupe of cents to add if I may. Im currently building rc airplanes out of foam board, thinner than what you are using I believe. Anyway hot glue is amazing, try cutting a strip or two the length of your cargo cover and about 1 to 1'1/2 and hot glue it to the bottom of the cover edge ways for support, I find it bends when flat but not if you brace it with a piece 90degrees off the flat. Just an idea, I think it looks great though, good work.

I made a DIY cargo cover and used cheap curtain rods as support. This is what I'm talking about:

Looks like this underneath. They are positioned so they sit on the "lip" of the shelf supports. It's quite strong, yet still very lightweight. This thread actually gave me the idea to try it on my own. I found the foam board did bend over time, so I added the curtain rods and haven't had a problem since:

Spent less than $30 versus buying the Honda spec one

That looks awesome. Where did you guys manage to find that large piece of felt? At Michael's?
Also, what do you use to stick the felt securely onto the board? Will hot glue gun work?

Sorry, didn't see this post earlier. I bought the felt at hobby lobby, but I imagine any craft store like Michaels would have it. Even Walmart has a fabrics section. I used a spray adhesive. I put multiple coats and let it dry tacky for a few minutes. Then press it down firmly and put something heavy on it for a while. If you use hot glue, it may show the thicker lines of glue.
