Thank goodness I wasn't drinking anything when I read leaf blower. I would have to buy some monitor cleaner

I hate thermostatically controlled fans on heatsinks, especially this AMD/AVC one. If I increase the ambient temperature of the computer by 2 degrees C moving my Tt2018 to the side panel, cpu fan rpm goes from 3700 to 5000. Grrr

End computer rant, back to the car...

Guess I might as well spill it. I'll have to take pictures tomorrow since I didn't even get dressed today (yesterday) although it isn't all that majestic.

A simple resonator block for the GD3 is all it is. Yup. Although, it has to be done right. Super tightly compressed foam works well for the passage into the bulb on the snorkel, but for the main chamber under the filter, foam or tape just doesn't cut it. Foam seems to pass just enough to destroy pressure waves and the engine will tell you this when it tries to run out of breath at 6000 rpm, and tape not only moves back and forth but also just like to fall off once the temperature gets too hot. I'm wondering if this is why resonator blocks by fitfreak members never really worked and everyone complained that the engine lost all its punchiness. Also, I noticed only doing the big resonator while leaving the snorkel one intact causes a fair loss in power and a lot of noise.

Believe it or not, if you take a washcloth and fold it so many times that you think there's no way it's fitting in that slot, and you fit it in that slot, really no air can get by. Mine started as a mildly used oil rag so that may have helped in the squeeze.

Voilá, a $.15 way to get some top end power without losing much of anything over 2500 rpm (although I will say it doesn't have the stumpin torque under 2k anymore, but that's ok it never accelerated much there anyway), the highway noise goes away, is easily reversible, and if anything ever comes loose it can't get sucked into the engine because the filter is in the way. Thought maybe this could be a cheap easy mod for people who don't want a whole new intake, you know now that it works like it's hoped to.

Probably helps that I have a drop-in, but I'm not switching back to test.

Like I said, not a WTF, but maybe a wtf.

UGH I think I'm having a hard drive starting to fail on me. An old refurbished 80GB WD Caviar that newegg gave me for free for buying my computer stuff 4 years ago started the click of death yesterday and when I tried to get files off it wouldn't access.

It's working again a little today but I dunno for how long, copy copy copy!

I'll take pics in a few mins once I start the next copy set

The filter in the car

ragtag mod

up close, a 10"x10" rag stuffed into that tiny little slot. I folded 6 or 7 times and it barely went in. it isn't moving or leaking much if any at all

Plug the snorkel box too! It makes a difference. This started as a 3" cube of window air conditioner stripping

im kinda confused, wats the rag stuffed in the corner for?

nevermind i found out what the rag was for, it sounded good but no where near how good the intake sounds and feels with a real intake on there

I hear ya on that one, I had an aem cai on the old civic and it was a big difference. Best mod I did. However the day we got hit with 8" of rain in an hour two years ago the week I sold that car I decided not to put one on the Fit. No more bumper filters.

The only intake I'd consider is the PRM, but since this does well enough for me, meh I'll save the $$$, and if I ever have to go to the dealer it's pull pull done in 2 minutes.

I will say I'm thoroughly convinced this setup makes more power than the SSR speaking from experience although that one sounded meaner.

You were half right, so that's half win. Snorkel was preserved for the cooler air. Heck of a lot closer than leaf blower though LOL

Still loving it. Been over a week and neither block has budged. Woot!

Extra throttle spring + this mod = feels a lot like driving the old EJ8 again, but with a suspension that isn't worn out.

I'm kinda tempted to experiment with shortening my CAI one inch at a time until I reach that happy place where top end and throttle response are balanced. I have the A-spec and the throttle response is slooooooowwwwwww off idle. Of course that is probably the Fits economy-minded throttle programming more than the CAI LOL.
