My 09 GE Taffy is all nice and shiny again

Wash, clay bar and wax this morning. I had a sh*t load of rail dust from the winter. First I have ever used clay. Piece of cake.

How about some pics eh?

The Shark antenna is recent.

Rear has had a lot of changes. JDM tails, Sport emblem, Blue H inserts, Fin, Removed the overpriced piece of crap rubber skidpad from bumper and added the big old HKS( that sure screwed my gas mileage cause I like to hear it)

Ready now to paint the diffuser black.

From the side - blue drums and calipers, blue H on wheels, Stainless on pillars. Just put body molding on a couple weeks ago. Got it from a USA dealer.

And on the front Kool Kevs fog vinyls. I may re-wire to turn on separately. Want to paint the surround of the H blue. Hood deflector.

Need winkers and puddle lights

I had put in 2 small blue LEDs on each side but not bright enough so I added these on each side. One more on hatch to shine behind car when open would be nice.

Your car looks great! Love your mods - they all look well done and clean. We've had a bad winter here and my plan is to spend the next two days in the garage getting ready for the first show on Saturday. How did you clean the area in the fender wells on the back wheels? I can never seem to get it all cleaned up and I am wondering if you did anything different. I know you've got a newer model than mine but I am assuming that area is the same.

You need Swift springs, PRONTO!

Oh and paint that rear diffuser black--I tested out the taping and think I have a good method of making my line straight. I'm hoping to paint it soon but if you wanna test it out before me, be my guest...lol.

My car is undercoated with black crap. So the fender wells are done in that as well. I just hose it out.

XXX Geez give the old guy a break eh. I will order the springs and have them sent to your home. You can then bring that old goat that did yours up here to help install them.

If I am talking with neighbour tonight I will get the ramps and do the diffuser. Hell I just finished power washing my deck. Mist seal it tomorrow afternoon.

Car looks fantastic! Awesome job!

Where did you get your seat covers? Are they seat covers or did you have the seats reupholstered? If it is seat covers, do they interfere with the seat airbags?

Check this thread...
https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/gaug...at-covers.html

They are covers. They have youtube test videos of them working with the airbags (seams ripping in the event of air bag coming out)
Oh, and they rock.

Did the diffuser today

Before. Neighbour had gotten rid of his ramps. I bought new ones. As I do not intend to do my own oil changes etc I do not need them after this job. I returned them when I was done.

Paint I used. Buy one of these handles for spray cans. Well worth it. I use it when painting model cars. I wiped down area to be painted with brillo type scrubber pad.

Masking. I tried to leave as much of the grove as I could to paint. It is easier then as you cannot see the line. Always tape off any seams in your paper or I promise you you will get over spray. I knew this and still had a couple of small spots. Having just waxed the car yesterday it wiped right off.

A light first coat of primer. Then another one. It was perfect day to paint. No wind and in 70s. I then added a couple of coats of Satin black.

Voila. To me it gives the impression of being lowered some. Then we loaded up the ramps and returned them. The paint did not make it any faster.

I just used a Scotch Brite pad to rough it up. Two light coats of primer and two of paint.

The Shark antenna is recent.

B3sr... was there any noticeable difference in reception when switching from the standard antenna to the shark fin? Or was it simply a cosmetic change, period? If you're getting a decent change I may consider it also.

Thanks

I was just wondering the same thing. Was thinking about ordering one last night.

BTW - I think the side moldings are highly underrated for this car (only say that because I hardly ever see them.) It adds a visual detail of purposefulness, and breaks up the slab side (besides offering protection.) Reminds me of the cars I grew up on. VW says the days of over-styling are over, but the Fit looks incredibly modern with little details like that.

Antenna - I got it purely for cosmetic reasons. It works as well as original. I usually listen to my own music so seldom have radio on.

Side moldings. Glad to see someone else has same opinion. It does add to the styling. There are some out there though that are just rounded on the ends not nice.

Emblems. - The rear one - I bought vinyl inserts on Ebay. Same for the wheels. The front one - I painted using a brush. I used the leftover paint from brake drums. Model car paint would work too and a fine brush.

Tails I got from a guy on here named Danny Pal in Thailand. About $225.

I am waiting this afternoon for Greyhound to deliver my Swift springs.

I am Swifted now. Got them installed today. Only $96 labour at my Dodge dealer. I was on way home in little over 1 1/2 hrs. Only charged me for 1 hour( old geezer discount).

Ride is very similar to stock.

I'm starting to like the JDM tails.

Not really feeling the stainless steel pillars.

I'm starting to warm up to the idea of getting the shark fin antenna. I think it's a necessity on my part 'cause I messed up my shorty antenna and antenna base backing up while my garage door is not fully up. Do you think it will hold so that water will not enter the hole on my roof with this thing on?
