Oh okay since I'm getting an intake, I guess I could consider it useless myself too

it could be a muffler, but it looks more like a vacuum reservoir to me... which helps keep the brakes consistent when you jump from hard accel to strong braking...

most of the time it isn't really needed... just in special circumstances... if that's what it is...

easy way to tell is to follow the line that is attached to it and find out where it attaches...

 i read the thread...

i guess it's a muffler... just don't understand how a muffler can muffle anything if it's not attached to anything...

I think this is one of these things that got lost in the translation...being an engineer, I would call it a baffle...in the translation, they called it a muffler. No biggie.

does it connect to the same "chamber" where the stock intake gets it's air from?

Nope...it doesn't connect to anything...that is why I would call it a baffle. It just sits in a body cavity. It surprised me. That is why I looked it up in the manual.

well that's stupid and useless...

usually if a part is both, it doesn't make it on a production car... i guess it does now.

thanks for the info.

It honestly looks like a fender support. Doesn't go anywhere or do shit. The only thing I can think of being called e muffler would be to muffle the intake sound but it's a POS

finally got mine on, & so far it's more firmer & responsive. I like. But mine were welded on instead at the fender, but bolted on the door
