Need help with my wheels... will pay you

monopoly money.

Hi guys,

I've been reading around the forum multiple times a day and love it. Tried the search function, got an idea, but nothing specific as to my problem.

I just ebayed me a set of Rota Circuit 8s 16x7 for my Base Fit. I'm trying to look for specific tires or tire measurements that will keep it from rubbing. I will have it dropped on Eibach's.

Tire Details - Discount Tire Direct

These were the tires I was planning on getting. Will these rub? If they will, any suggestions? Thanks a lot, FFs.... excited to get started

I don't feel like taking the link. What tire size are they with a 40+ offset you are probably going to want to go with 205/40/16 to prevent any rubbing.

With 40 offset on 205/40x16 you will rub especially if you lower. The safe offset is 45 mm.

Yeah, I was really confused because some were saying 205/45/16, some 205/40/16. Anyhow, is there a suggested weight on what wheels you run? I heard from someone my wheels are a bit heavy. 16 lbs.

Thanks to all that replied.

Its up to you. 205/40 or 205/45's and youll be ok. Minimal rubbing but nothing to freak out about.

45's are the correct size. 40's youll probably not rub at all.
And 16lbs isnt heavy for 16's.

They are. For your use I'd go with TR F1's 16x6.5 wgt 10.5# and Hankook Ventus RS-2's 205/45x16 tires, wgt 20# at 23.2" diameter compared to 23.44" stock/ Lighter weights all around and slightly smaller diameter on extreme performance tire with 200 wear rating. You did want maximum performance right? If not there are several much longer wearing tires with wear ratings up to 420. And onl weigh a couple pounds more (that is offset by the slightly smaller diameter so acceleration not hurt)
The real trick is getting minimum 42 mm offset stock ride hgt or 45 mm lowered ride height.
Although the TR F1's are shown in Grassroots MS and cost $439. The Enkei RPF1's 16x7 weigh 13.7# and cost $219.
Good luck.
PS no pay please; this is for fun and pass on 60 years of experience.

even if his rims were 18 lbs each, i doub that he'd see a significant drop in performance.

and there are quite a few guys on the forum lowered on +40 rims with 205/45/r16's with no rubbing at all.

Thanks, a lot, guys.

I'm going to order the Falken Ziek's 915 (205/45/16). I don't plan to exactly slam the car because of bumpy roads, and hills.

Excited to take pictures...
