overkill to use Nokian Hakka RSi? Toronto weather
Hi all,
takin' delievery for the 2011 Honda Fit in the next few days,
was lookin' at purchasin' the Nokian Hakka RSi....
would you guys think havin' the Nokian Hakka RSi be overkillin'
in Toronto Weather?
my gf drives about 100km (62 miles) per day, 90% highway (100-120km/h, 60mph-75mph)
i wanted to get her the nokian cuz it's her first compact
vehicle (she used to drive a odyssey for +4 years on hankook W409),
since the Fit is almost weightless compare to the minivan, i wanna make
sure she gets some good winter shoes....
i'm currenly runnin' Michelin Alpin PA3 on my Genesis coupe, and it's
absolutely fabulous...too bad they don't make it for 185/70/14....
would u guys suggest anythin' else besides the RSi?
perhaps the Continental EWC? or even the General Altimax Arctic?
Please advise~
(i've already did a search on the hakka RSi in the forum, but not much info that i can see)

I can't comment on the Hakka tire specifically, but I just picked up my Fit in November and it has Nokian WR G2 on, which are by far the best winter tire I've owned. They are great in the snow, in the wet, and grip surprisingly well when it's cold and dry too. Low rolling resistance design and fairly high psi has been helping my mpg. And the other day I took them to a really really wet autox and they did well there too!
Sorry I can't provide specific feedback about the tires you're interested in, but I just wanted to say I am loving my Nokians, and this is coming from someone who lives on the west coast where we only get a week of snow per year

Nokians are amazing tires! it's never overkill to get a good set of tires since it's such an important part...
You could also look at Michelin X-Ice XI2 ! i had the first and second gen on my fit, and even if i loved the first one the second is flawless! I never felt so confident in rough weather, even in huge snow storms
just pick the one that's cheaper...

i was thinkin' of X-ice as well, but i hear they wear out too quick..
especially my gf drives 100km per day on highway...

The RSi's while pricey are probably one of the best snow tires made. The Michelin X-Ice are nice, and I have a set of Firestone winter tires that came attached to a set of wheels I bought that have treated me well. Even in our little blizzard last week here in Chicago, .6m snow fall over 24 hours..
