Smile New Tires

Ok, so Im going to sound completely useless but well, I am!

i need new tires and I found a set of 4 dunlop 175-65r15 and she said theres 6mm of tread left.

I have no idea what that means, I thought it went by percentage?

Anyways..are these worth buying?

Thanks in advance!

Tires are measured in mm of tread.

Brand new, most tires come at a height of 10 mm of tread. Then, legally, at about 2mm, a tire is considered "bald." Sure, you could risk going down to zero... but it ain't gonna be pretty.

Taking those numbers, 6mm is about 50% life. But tires aren't the same through its life... The first half is different from the second half. Depending on what you are going to do with them, you might prefer one over the other (yes, some folks like low tread height tires).

But, for the most part... if all you do is causally drive around... you're gonna prefer the taller treads (helps with rain too).
